Well, I posted a question about the boat and bike plan, then did a search and found the info that I wanted, edited the post to say nevermind and it disappeared.. (Thanks Moderator :) )

HOWEVER I decided to follow up on the research I had done here and call MS. The CM at MS said 'there is NO family recreation plan at BC' which is contrary to the info on this board..... She also said that the Wilderness lodge plan is ONLY available to those staying at the WL (or WLV).... Also contrary to this board. SO I told her about the posts here and she offered to call and verify the info in the documentation.

She says she spoke with someone at the WL marina and the BC marina and her statements are correct.......

There are numerous posts on this board from folks who say they have used the WL plan without staying there and that there is a BC plan.... Could someone please help... I'm confused................

I picked up a flyer at the BC Marina 2 days ago. My friend that I was with took it with her so I can't quote what it says exactly but there was 2 plans on it. Both were for boats only, that would include the water mice and the pontoon boats. One boat was an unlimited family plan, I think it was for $199. The other was also a family plan but it was for 4 hours I think and you could use that 4 hours however you wanted during your stay. Like I said, I don't have the paper in my hand, but there was definatly a plan.

Terry, it sounds wonderful! I read the report and am so glad you had a good time. I miss my kids whenever we are apart, yet sometimes when I am with them at WDW I can't help but think of all the good stuff my dh and I could do on a "grownups only" trip -- nicer meals, Pleasure Island, etc. The good thing about DVC is that if I survive parenthood I can do all this when the kids go to college!

Also glad you spotted the gator. My kids were disappointed two weeks back when we didn't see any and I promised them that when we return in June, I know where to find one!

Glad you had a great trip.

We rented boats at BC recently (Feb./Mar) using the Family Plan - $199 plus tax for unlimited boat use for length of stay. This plan is valid for up to 5 guests. There were watermice, canopy boats and a pontoon boat. The location was convenient because we were staying at BCV. However, the watermice are not nearly as fast as those on Bay Lake....not sure I would rent at BC again for this reason.

When we signed up for the plan, we were told by 2 CMs that we could bring guests along with us on the boats as long as they did not drive. A few days later, a different CM told us that there were no guests allowed. We discussed this with the Manager who ended up adding my son's friend to the list as an eligible driver on the condition we would not bring any more guests on the boats. I can understand their reasons for not allowing guests - the problem is that we were told differently when we signed up.

We stayed at OKW this past Christmas and did the boat/bike plan at WL. They knew we were staying at OKW, all they said was "You know you have to come here to get the boats".

Did the boat and bike plan at VWL in October - we were staying at BCV so the travel back and forth the four times we went out in the boats added to the time involved but as we had a car it wasn't too bad. It became my new favorite "ride" at WDW as you can go almost everywhere on Bay Lake and we did . Even watched a wedding by the Polynesian as we went by. The only rules were that you could only use the equipment from the location you signed up at and that you couldn't stop at the other hotels that also had the plan like the polynesian or GF. I would do it again if we stay more than 4 days. I can't find my paper with the rates and other information but I think it came to $210 with tax for up to 5 people for the length of stay. The only things we took out were the watermice but you could do canopy boats, pontoons, canoe, or sailboat ( if you were 18 and could show you knew what you were doing) and regular bikes. The boats were definitely faster than the ones we saw from the Beach Club.

So does this mean that the only place you can dock or stop is at the resort of rental?

Also, when renting at BC, do you have access to the water leading into EPCOT? How far can you go?

Yes the only place you can dock is where you starrted from. They suggested that we come back each hour in case there were people waiting for the boats. There never was but then we were there in October. Actually we found an hour was plenty at one time especially on Bay Lake where you can cover a lot of area at a good speed and get very wet if you're not careful. Whiile we were walking to MGM we saw people along that stretch of water with water mice but they were traveling at very sedate speeds compared to Bay Lake. We did not see anyone with them on the waterway to EPCOT but we weren't around there that much. I am certain you can check with the CM on duty by the boats at the BC dock for exactly where you can take them before you decied. On Bay Lake there is one corner that is off limits past the Contemporary because that is where they do the water skiing but it really didn't make a difference since there is so much area to use. Next time we do this I plan to take the bikes to FW also but couldn't get the rest of the group interested this time. One day we took the bus to the MK and then the boat to WL to get there and then the bus to DD before gong back to BCV. It was a really great non park day.

You are not allowed to take the boats on the waterway to Epcot. You have to stop at the bridge (where the canal to Epcot starts).
