I'll be at the POFQ this May and I have never visited the Boardwalk before. I was wondering how we get there? Do you park at the Boardwalk hotel? Is there enough there to do to keep us busy for the night?

Thanks

You can drive there, or you can take one of the boats from Epcot or MGM (which would be my suggestion. I've never driven, so I can't speak to the parking. It is really nice - have street entertainers, shops, restaurants and a couple of clubs - ESPN and Jellyrolls. You could probably keep busy there for an evening if you planned on shopping plus dining/club. We usually just go for an hour or so - most of the shops have the same merchandise as DTD - but its great atmosphere on the lake and the entertainers are great!!

I was thinking of going over our first night. If I took the boat from Epcot/MGM, do I need a ticket to get in?

Boardwalk is a beautiful place to stroll but quite honestly does not fill an entire evening...
you might want to consider eating there...flying fish is a great restaurant as well as yachtsman steakhouse.

on the lighter side, beaches & cream is a great place to go for a burger and ice cream. That is at the Beach Club

definitely visit the area..it is beautiful

Going to the Boardwalk from Epcot requires you to leave through the International Gateway, so you would need a ticket to get in Epcot.

Going to the Boardwalk from MGM, you never have to go inside of MGM park, so no need to waste a day on your ticket. The boat dock is on the far side of the entrance gate from the resort bus stops.

We love the Boardwalk, Beach/Yacht Club area. It is a good idea for something to do on your first night there! Have fun!! :cool1:

If coming from POFQ it would be quicker to drive. If coming from a park you could use Disney transportation (boat or bus) to the Boardwalk - but if you want to go back to your resort after it would require boat & bus or bus & bus combo. Since you are staying at a Disney resort, you will be able to park at the Boardwalk. They may only give you a 3 hour pass or you may have to park in the lot across the street if it is during a busy time of year.

I'm not that impressed with the shopping at the BW as it has only a few shops. We have enjoyed eating at Flying Fish, Spoodles and ESPN. There is also a nice bakery, usually some strolling entertainers and our son's favorite: surrey bikes, which we pedal and he rings the bell! Across the lake at the Yacht/Beach club, you can rent mouse boats.

The BW is beautiful when lit up at night.

We have also planned to visit the BW for the first time, too. We plan to go to AK during the day, then take bus from AK to BW and eat at ESPN Club. Finally, we will go to Epcot to watch Illuminations. :goodvibes
