Boardwalk Villas

Hey there-
My fiance and I are going on a Disneymoon after we get married next summer and are trying to decide where to stay. My parents just booked our family trip for this July with Arlene. I believe she sells these packages through e-bay. Anyway, they are actually timeshares with the deluxe resorts. So my family was able to get a 5 night stay at Old Key West for almost half of what Disney would charge! Arlene offered us a deal at the Boardwalk Villas. I have been to WDW many times, and Boardwalk was my favorite place yet. Are the Villas the same as the rooms? We would be getting a studio. I just wondered how the villa studios compared to the rooms.

I just stayed in a studio over at the Boardwalk, and loved it. The room was great. The room felt very roomy to me (although they are smaller than the rooms at Old Key West). and I loved having the fridge in the room (never used the microwave or toaster). The location can't be beat--you can walk to MGM and Epcot.

I had stayed in the Boardwalk Inn a couple of years ago, and I liked the rooms at the Villas better because of the extra features that come with a DVC room (the kitchenette, all of the nooks and cranies for storage).

I have been to WDW many times, and Boardwalk was my favorite place yet. Are the Villas the same as the rooms? We would be getting a studio. I just wondered how the villa studios compared to the rooms.

No. The rooms at the BWI which is the regular hotel portion of the BW are just hotel rooms. The rooms at the BWV's which is the Disney Vacation Club timeshare portion of the resort on the other hand are "home away from home" villas.

While the regular hotel rooms at the BWI are very nice and in the deluxe catagory, at the BWV's DVC portion you will get a kitchenette with a mini-fridge,wet bar,microwave,toaster and coffee maker in the studio's (which is the smallest size villas you can book). The room size isn't too much bigger in a studio than the regular rooms at the Inn but you get the kitchette. Plus at the BWV's in a studio you'll have a queen bed and a pull out sofa so with just 2 people the room will seem larger and be more like a home away from home than a regular hotel room at the BWI will If you stay in a 1bdrm or larger you'll get a full kitchen,king bed in the master bdrm,jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and in room laundry.

Another thing to consider, this seems like a DVC member selling their points, not a TA booking the room for you. You will not receive daily housekeeping with renting points, only Trash and Towel service on the 4th day (they'll give you fresh towels, you receive none prior to that without paying, and remove the trash) and no full housekeeping until the 8th day. You'll receive the accomdations listed above and with 2 people, it will seem slightly larger than a regular room at BWI.

For a honeymoon, I would pick either a one-bedroom BWV or a room at BWI. The rooms at BWI are much nicer, IMO. Decorated much prettier and more luxurious than BWV rooms, which are kind of more average in decoration and rather servicable. Also, you can get a king size bed (on request) at BWI. The studios have one queen and a sleeper sofa. So, as between a studio at BWV or a room at BWI, for your honeymoon, I'd pick a room at BWI, unless you need a mini kitchenette for some reason.

The 1-bedroom BWV would also be lovely for a honeymoon -- you get a king bed, separate living room, full kitchen and a big jacuzzi tub.

The Garden Suites at BWI are also very nice -- but pricey. Lovely for a honeymoon, however. They come with concierge services.
