Hi, Everyone!

My wife and I are staying at a Boardwalk Studio Villa in September of this year and we are curious as to what rooms, if any specifically, we should attempt to ask for when staying! I've read reviews in which others say being close to the elevators can be noisy, however, I've also read that being further away from the elevators can be a bit demanding physically (although neither of us are concerned about such). Does staying on a higher level room make a difference from a first floor room? And do any of the standard view studio villas have a nice view? Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from others' experiences!

BWV is our favorite resort. The hallways can be long, but sometimes when you're further out you have a nicer view. We have been on the 1st floor which is great for pool access and upper rooms which gave us a beautiful view of the canal and the Swan. I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever room you get.

It all depends on what you booked....standard Boardwalk/Pool view. I am guessing you are paying cash. Correct?

We've stayed at BWV many times and I really prefer a high floor, away from the elevators. The hallways really aren't very long and, if stairs don't bother you, there is typically a staircase nearby that you can take down right to the Boardwalk area. We've had views of the BWV quiet pool and of the Swan. I actually really loved the location of the Swan view room as there was a staircase that put us right on the path to DHS!

Ah! Great suggestions and information! I now am going to request a room that overlooks the Swan on an upper level floor! I appreciate your guys' feedback and cant wait to learn more about the BWV! We are beyond excited to stay there, which will be our first time, and are impressed with the renovations we saw have taken place over the past year! We're also staying at the AKLV, which we hope is another immersive and beautiful experience! Thanks again!

We stayed there last November. Our request was close to the lobby. We were on the 2nd floor, about 75 feet from the elevators which put us almost right over the lobby. The room looked over the pool. It was not noisy at all. Room was in excellent condition. I would stay there again with no problem. We loved being able to walk to Epcot and we usually took the boat to DHS and then walked back.

One trip we were literally the next to last room on the top floor. We joked every time on the way from the elevator, because the hallways bend, you're not sure where you are until you find a landmark. Ours was a bench, then an open area that looked down to another floor. We overlooked the Swan and the Croquet Court(?). It was fun seeing the boat to and from DHS, hearing the horn every day. The balcony is a little odd because it's got half walls, so you can kind of peek over, but they are architecturally interesting.

We've gotten an "upgrade" into the standard DVC owners section overlooking the quiet pool on the first floor. It's very cool, especially if you have kids, you can walk to Community Hall too.

Another visit was just a 3rd floor, overlooking the clown pool. Also nice. Honestly, I don't think there's a bad room there.

The three views you describe are all considered garden/pool view which any DVC member could end up with. You definitely were not "upgraded" to view the quiet pool. If you paid with cash, your "standard view" is usually a garden/pool view of some type.

If you want to be away from the pool, you might request the Village Green which is all studio villas. This is the area overlooking the grassy area between the BWVillas and the BWInn looking out towards the boat dock.

We stayed at BWV in December and had requested an upper floor Village Green view. We were assigned a room on the 5th floor, just a few rooms down from the elevator, overlooking the clown pool and ended up loving that view. We were able to see the fireworks from DHS each night and were not bothered one bit by the pool noise.

A higher floor definitely sounds to be the absolutely best option for us, which I will request! I have read that several people said if you pay with cash you will get a garden/pool view. By cash do you guys mean pay ahead of time? I rented the villa through a DVC broker from a family and paid outright at the beginning. I'm assuming that means it was a cash transaction, but I just wanted to verify! Thanks, everyone! The information has been exceedingly helpful!

No, a cash reservation is one where you actually book a DVC room directly from Disney, just like booking a Hotel room with Disney. Yes, it can get confusing but you did the right thing by simply asking here on the forum.

In your specific case the owner will have to put in any of your "requests" via Member Services. The broker can forward your requests on to the point owner and can confirm with you once the requests are made.

Ah! That

That completely makes sense! Thank you for clarifying! I didn't want to come off as ignorant, but I am due to never renting points before so your answer really cleared up my misunderstanding of the reservation! Thank you!

I was about to write the exact same thing. We were three doors down from the elevator and loved how close we were. We never had a problem with noise. At first we were disappointed we didn't get the Village Green, but ended up loving our 5th floor view with fireworks every night.

With a DVC points reservation, a standard view is usually a view of the front entrance of the resort including the parking lot. A standard view on points requires fewer points than a preferred view on points. Preferred on points is either Boardwalk View or Garden/Pool view.

You will definitely want a higher floor to avoid the noise from DME luggage loading and unloading.

Excellent point! I will make sure to request a higher room to avoid said noise! Thank you!!

Oh yeah, that's why it was in quotes. They made a big deal out of an "upgrade" which in reality to me was just getting a room that a DVC member would get instead of cash. I guess the resort thought it was an upgrade because it put us right at the pool.

But that room doesn't go to just DVC members. Cash members get rooms in that area all the time. Any room in the garden/pool view category goes to either a cash reservation or a DVC reservation. I am not sure why you think that room should have gone to a DVC member so was an upgrade for a cash reservation.

I had the same situation, requested Village Green, got pool view. Loved it! Could see fireworks from DHS.
