That's an amazing view! What floor was that on and was that a preferred view? Beautiful photo!

5th floor, about 4 doors from the elevator. Preferred pool/garden. I own at BWV and normally book Boardwalk view but due to a conflict at work I had to change dates and waitlisted. I was able to pull together a 5 night stay by grabbing dates online and the last night waitlist.

If you've booked a standard view studio, using points through a DVC owner, you won't get a view like that. You'll get a view facing the entrance to BW, looking towards the bus stop, or if at the end of the bldg, possibly a view towards DHS/ToT. If you have a high enough room, and it doesn't have a tree in front of it, you can watch IllumiNations at night, which is nice. But, I always seem to get a tree right smack dab in front of my balcony...get to watch the squirrels running around in the tree!!!
The pool views, some of my favorite views, are considered preferred views. So, what you end up with will depend on what room catagory you booked...standard, preferred, or boardwalk.

We booked a standard view studio and were upgraded to a standard view 1BD. We were on the 1st floor facing the river that the boat uses to go from DS to the BW. I loved the patio, two big balconies. The view was just ok, but that is what I expected for a standard view.

DVC doesn't give out upgrades. The only way for it to happen is the villa you were supposed to be in is taken out of service and they don't have another to put you in.

I had the same situation, requested Village Green, got pool view. Loved it! Could see fireworks from DHS.

This looks exactly like our view from December. We were in room 5062.

We did a split stay once between AKL and BWV. We loved it. The two resorts have a completely different feel from each other, but both are excellent!

The BWV is one of our home resorts and we usually have a Boardwalk view, but this past Thanksgiving we made the reservations too late and got a great pool view. It was on the 3rd floor right above the lobby. We usually request close to the elevator because my father has a bad hip, but anywhere is really good. If you are farther out by the quiet pools, then you will have a shorter walk to DHS, but maybe a slightly longer walk to Epcot. You may also have a quick walk to the bus stop by walking outside close to the gardens.

Re Village Green. We requested that last Oct., got an upper floor pool view but our stay was for 10 days, arrived on a Wed. While we were checking in the CM helping us offered to let us switch on Sat to the VG, 'Courtyard' is what they called it. We had to pay a cleaning fee, we agreed and had the last 7 days in the room we wanted. Hoping to get this deal this Nov.

But that room doesn't go to just DVC members. Cash members get rooms in that area all the time. Any room in the garden/pool view category goes to either a cash reservation or a DVC reservation. I am not sure why you think that room should have gone to a DVC member so was an upgrade for a cash reservation.

I'm not arguing your point, I'm telling you that the front desk told us that we were "upgraded", that's all. Why do you keep pushing the issue, I'm not making it a big deal. I thought it was funny, once again I'll mention the quotes around the word. But I have been told numerous times that those are the DVC standard rooms and the cash reservations go to the other end of the resort. I have not investigated or contacted Disney to see if that's true. Sorry for the misunderstanding
