Anyone have a map of the whole Epcots resorts area. I need to walk from BWV where ME will drop us off to the National Rental at Dolphin. I won't have much time as our flight lands at 1:30 and National closes at 4.
Google maps just shows me to walk out to the main road-no sidewalks but I'm sure there is an easier way but need to be fast.

Enter the BWI/Villas go through the hotel and exit the back onto the Boardwalk, turn left and walk about 5 minutes. The Dolphin is directly on your right. You can't miss it.

Thanks for the quick response:)
The last trip I walked it from BCV and it seemed to be close, I could see that fish(supposid Dolphin) on the roof, but I ended up taking some convoluted way through a service parking lot, a meandering sidewalk all along the back of the hotel until I finally found a door in:confused3 Just a little freaked out that I won't make it in time to pick up the car before they close.

ME will drop you off in front of the main lobby of the BWI & BWV (check in for both is the same place). Walk straight through the lobby and out the door onto the walkway bordering Crescent Lake. Turn left and you'll see the Swan and Dolphin Resorts. It'll be about a 5 minute walk. Inside the Dolphin take the escalator up to the lobby, turn right where you'll find the National counter in an alcove.

I'm not Robo, not even worthy of touching his Mouse, but take a look at this map:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/epcot-resort-area.htm

You'll see how easy it is to walk from the Boardwalk to the Dolphin. Go around the lake, across the bridge and you're there. Or hop on a boat to DHS from BW, the next stop is Swan/Dolphin. They run every 20 minutes, so you'll definitely get there within your hour timeframe. Assuming you don't get to the BW until 3:00.

You should be just fine!

I was just curious as to why you don't rent a car at mco. Why are you taking ME to BWI and then renting at the dolphin.

I agree with this. I took ME once to the BWI and it took about 2 1/2 hours to get there! It sucked.

I would think the rental would be cheaper being picked up at the airport also?
There have been times that a rental from the Dolphin was cheaper than from MCO. You have to compare the rates. Also, there are lots of people who are just not comfortable driving from MCO to WDW...unfamilier with the highways and exits.

And as far as DME taking 2 1/2 hrs??? Highly unusual. The longest it has ever taken me, in many many trips, was 85 mins. And we were the third of three stops, with a ton of luggage being off loaded at each of the first two stops.

do you have a ressie at BWV for the DME? I'm guessing your staying at BWV.

we take DME to the BWVs, then rent a car at the dolphin every trip.
we prefer not having to deal with luggage, the traffic at MCO, and would simply rather enjoy the bus ride.
add in that we can drop days from our car ressie, and the atmosphere at the dolphin rental is so much nicer (with friendly, helpful employees - they greet us by name now).
we usually wind up paying a bit more thru the dolphin than MCO, but it's worth it :)

We also take DME then get a rental car at the car care center. DH loves the luggage handling, but likes to have a car while onsite. We don't like the hassle anymore of driving from/to airport and filling up the gas tank. We are seniors and like the convenience. We use National at the Dolphin or The Car Care Center. The CCC is open later than the Dolphin, and they will pick you up from your hotel if you schedule the pick-up in advance.

Thanks everyone for the advice, and questions.
Yes, we do have a ressie for BWV(home resort). The rental was cheaper at the Dolphin, less taxes I found. We are going at a busy time this year, Canadian March Break, and found no real deals on rentals for this week since I have been looking from the beginning of Dec. The rates have gone up since I reserved.
I too do not like the drive from the airport, the suitcase handling, the traffic and the tolls. I prefer to just board the bus, and veg. I do want to have the car though, to get groceries, shop and eat off site when I feel like it. We have taken ME at least 4 times, and never had more than an hour from airport to resort, I know it could be longer, but good luck so far. The one time we did rent from airport, we kind of got lost, and were in the "OH my God, we're going to miss the plane" panic.:scared1:
ME forces you to be ready to leave and again just veg. a bit waiting for plane.
We rented from Dolphin last trip-split stay between BCV and OKW and had really good luck with them.
Thanks again for everyone's input:)

I think I just got unlucky with ME!

Your idea does make perfect sense, plus you don't pay for parking at BWV. Yes, the taxes renting at the aiport are HIGH compared to renting off airport.

Also, if you're returning after they "close" the bellman will still take the car for you and give you a receipt (did that once returning National car to the Dolphin). It is easier than renting at the airport.

Hope you have a good trip and good weather - we'll be there next month too!
