Now that I am an owner, I am trying to plan our trip.

I am guessing there is no "food court" on boardwalk property since there are quite a few places to eat. I was wondering where we could get chips and drinks, snacks etc. Things they might have at a food court.

Can you purchase re-fillable mugs like the other resorts have? Where can you refill them? Can you get them in January?

How difficult is it to book a one bedroom in january during MLK weekend?

Thank you for any comments and suggestions.

I am interested in the responses too. We were there for the fist time in March and bought snack type items at the sundry/gift type store on the boardwalk. They had soda cans, milk, chips, and other food items. But we did not see anywhere for refillable mugs. We were wondering if they exist.

No, There is no food court. There are several places for this type of stuff. Sandwiches and other snack items can be found at the bakery , you have the hot dog stand ( sells a few things ) Joes coffee stand has stuff at night as well as the fried dough place (called something else but can't remember what right now <G> ) Also the pizza window at Spoodles. You can buy packaged snacks drinks and other items at the store ,Screen Door General Store.

Yes , they can be refilled at the bakery , the pool bar , Belle Vue Lounge , and Joe's coffee place. I think its easier to keep beverages in the villa's . They sell them everyday.

Sorry I have no experience with this but I would think it's easier to get a 1 bedroom over a studio and 2 bedroom.

Welcome !!

You will do great at BWV, have a great vacation.

we love boardwalk, our favourite home from home , mugs can be bought at the bakery, plenty of places to eat and just a few minutes walk around the lake to swan and dolphin and beach club for even more choices of places to eat, we found the boardwalk view too noisy but others like it we've never had a bad view and i actually quite like the standard ones that overlook the grass and ponds at the front of the boardwalk, have a fantastic time.

Don't forget Leaping Libations (the carousel-themed poolside thing below) at Luna Park. In addition to it being the best full-service poolside bar of any DVC resort, it has a food menu which (at least during my last visit) included sandwiches, nachos and hot dogs.:goodvibes

What is the Screen door? Is it a store with food items such as they have at the Beach Club? If not I was thinking of walking to the BC to get our snacks.

We just returned from 8 days at BWV. Had a wonderful time, loved our room, etc. The only complaint I would have is the lack of "lunch" food.
We were on the DDP, which made it more of a problem. The pool bar, kiosks and pizza window do not take CS credits. The bakery sandwiches got old fast. I think it needs something like Hurricane Hannah's at BC. I also made several walks over to get food at the BC Marketplace for CS. The bakery on the Boardwalk is very tiny and congested. My only complaint. Loved everything else about the place!

The Screen Door is a shop typical of those at the the other deluxe resorts, plus it carries a limited selection of groceries and snacks.

The selection at the BC is a lot better, could be worth the walk. There is also a 24 hour place at Dolphin but I haven't seen it since they renovated and changed its name.

unfortunately this is no longer the case. It is no longer a full service pool bar with food. It has 2 types of sandwiches ( same as the bakery ) it was pesto mayo , turkey , a fancy type of cheese on multi grain bread and it was all premade so if you don't like something oh well !!!! I ws much happier when it served the hot dogs and nachos and such made for a nice quick lunch !!!!

I wish the Boardwalk would somehow use the old childrens care center to put in a to go foods type of place with mug refilling.

I remember that the change at Leaping Libations must have been when I first started lurking then posting. Some people were really wound up about it, to the point of at least threatening to sell points and DVC was going to the dogs, and of course the favorite foodie blame target DDP.

Sorry to hear about the menu shrinking, and I agree, BW really could really use the type of setup VB has by the main pool (an efficient, high capacity counter service spot with friendly CMs and a full menu of grilled sandwiches, platters, salads and SELF SERVE mug refills - being able to enjoy all those while lounging by the pool make sunny afternoons at Vero pure heaven).

The fact the BW Bakery has no real cooking capability is also an issue.

great idea. In my eyes, the quick food issue is the only negative to what would otherwise be the perfect resort.

If you aren't limited by park tickets, you can also take a quick walk over to World Showcase and pick up counter service there. In our one week stay, I didn't buy any food at the boardwalk except 2 churros and one crumb cake for late night snacks.
