Does anyone know how easily you can get to the Magic Kingdom from the Boardwalk Villas? We are planning to go next May with our two young children, and my daughter has her heart set on staying at the Boardwalk Villas. But I don't know if we should veto it just because of the logistics of getting to the Magic Kingdom which is where I'm sure we will spend most of our time. Has anyone stayed at the Boardwalk Villas with a 5 year old and 3 year old and spent most of their time in the magic kingdom?

It's via a bus, so no harder than it would be staying at any non-monorail resort. You could also walk to EPCOT and hitch a ride on the monorail if you have park hoppers. However, if you really want it to be convenient as possible, go with the Poly, GF, CR, or even the WL (boat launch).

We're also staying at the Boardwalk Villas with an 8-year old and a 2-year old.

I'm not a fan of Disney buses and usually prefer to drive. But I always use them to go to the Magic Kingdom. That's because the buses drop you off at the front gate. If you drive or take a cab, you end up at the transportation center and still need to take a monorail or ferry to the front gate.

We've rented a jogging stroller for the 2-year old. Our plan is to take the bus in the morning and return via the monorail to Epcot and walk back to the boardwalk (parkhopper pass required). It can be a long walk, but we enjoy the route.

We are DVC members and own at BWV so we stay there most frequently. As others have posted, if taking Disney Transport, you get to MK from BWV by taking the bus. The bus depot is right at the gate. It's very easy and the bus may or may not be full depending on when you're leaving for the park. The Boardwalk is the first stop, then it stops at the Swan and the Dolphin (two seperate stops). But at least you're already on the bus at that point, and most likely, have a seat. I'd say it takes about 20mins to get to the park. It's not a bad ride IMO and I'm not a lover of public transportation either. ;)

edit to add: keep in mind, at the Boardwalk you are with in walking distance of TWO parks - EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. This is a big plus to BW in my book:). With younger kids, IMO a stroller is in order if you're going to walk to DHS, which at a brisk pace takes us about 15mins. If walking is out of the question then there's always the boat ride, which is slower, but definitely pleasant.

This is a really good point.

I'm a big fan of staying at a resort that is nearest the park you'll spend the most time at. If you really think you will be at the MK most of the time, I'd look at the monorail resorts. Just my sorry opinion for what it's worth! :)
