boardwalk villa transportation issues

Love Boardwalk Villas, but think it is absolutely ridiculous for 5 deluxe resorts to share buses. Of course the BW gets the short end of the stick since they are the last stop. IMO, you shouldn't have to be figuring out if you need to walk over to the Swan or not. You are staying at an on property resort, and you should expect to be able to board a bus in a reasonable amount of time. I hope that guests concerns are being heard regarding this problem.

I am another BWV owner who thinks that we are getting a raw deal on bus service. Let's start sending e-mails to Member Services and see if we can get some action. Letters would be even better, but e-mails are a start:

Here is the text of my e-amil:
I am a BWV owner (member #------------) who is frustrated with the poor bus service at BWV. Buses are usually full after making 5 stops and the schedule requires long waits. Value resorts (e.g. All Stars) have better bus service than BWV. How do I register this complaint in order to get it addressed by the proper person?

I own at BCV. Our first trip "home" was this last August, where we were joined by my parents, two brothers, and two BILs.
I know that we were frustrated as well about the bus situation. We only used it once to go to MK and we had to wait forever to get a bus midday. Then after enight, it took more than an hour to finally get on a bus to get back to BCV. It was very frustrating. The bus queue for BC/YC, BW, Swan Dolphin was overflowing with people, while all other bus queue's were basically empty. Everytime a bus did show up for our queue, people broke out in applause.
Even waiting as long as we did, we still had to stand on a bus that was packed like a can of sardines.
We drove to AK since we were having dinner at Bomas after the park closed.
We took the boat to MGM, which wasn't too bad. But after park closing, there were no boats to be seen. So we walked back to BCV on our very tired feet.
Access to Epcot was great, five minute walk.

Own at OKW and BCV and stayed at BCV 10/11-10/15. It was the worst bus experience we have ever had. I got a postcard when I returned home asking me to participate in a survey about our stay and the only negative thing I put on the survey was the bus situation. We even tried the going to the Swan routine but that wasn't any better. Even if they could send out some "special" buses if the regular route drivers call in to say they were full at the Y&B club and therefore bypassed the rest of the route. We had three DDD/TL buses pull up and drive away empty while we waited for a MK one at 8:30 in the morning - Who goes there at that time? I didn't think they were even open - well maybe a couple of the restaurants. If you get a chance to answer the survey - it may be another way to get the message across.

When I was at BWV in September we also had very bad bus service. When I emailed a complaint, I recieved a telephone call 7 weeks later. I told the caller many of the people that stay there are very upset that a luxury resort has very poor transportation.
She said they realize that the transportation needs work and they are trying to make it better. She said they are striving to have the 20 minute schedule work. I told her it could never work servicing 5 resorts with 1 bus. I also told her we got of at the first stop, walked back to BWV and watched the bus roll in 10 minutes after we arrived in our room.We had the bus stop view so we could watch it come in. I think the more people that complain ,it may have some effect on the service. If no one complains they will think it is fixed. Personally I think it is faster to rent a car and use it than taking a bus to MK and AK.

I will still go back to BWV though , I love the location.

thank you for your reply to my thread. I found it extremely interesting.

Hello I wanted to say Kansas we don't own points at bwv, and even if I did I wouldn't want to defend the transportation there to you, but we've stayed there I think 3 times, and the bus can be slow, I agree with you. I remember one time waiting there at boardwalk to go somewhere and this guy had a plam pilot but he didn't make anything any faster. But the thing about no bus from Epcot future world, and being easier from old key west. I've got to ask you to think about that. If you were in world showcase part of Epcot and you wanted to go back to old key west, well then you would have to walk all the way across future world and out to the bus. The same as going from future world to bwv. I think a lot of people spend the end of the night at Epcot watching the fireworks show there at the countries. So when you have to walk all the way through future world and the busses are really crowded then! But if you are at bwv you can just walk right back like that. It is a snap. I think you are thinking of this one backwards, or are planning you days differently than we do. Try to plan your day based on making things easier for yourself.

I now agree with everyone, that my complaint about no bus on Future world side of EPCot, is no longer valid,

because the walk to boat, on Worldshowcase side of epcot from futureworld side of Epoct is the exact same distance for people

who are on the World show case side of epcot when they have to walk to the futureworld side of epcot

one person made a strong point, their is no need for a bus at all from boardwalk to epcot, because it walking distance to epcot
so if this is a vaild point

why are we paying for a boat ride from boardwalk to EPCOT World showcase??

Staying at BWV makes visiting the MK almost unbearable if you take Disney Transportation. On our most recent trip, we took the bus to MK from BWV and were fortunate. On the return trip the line was about 175-200 deep. Figuring it would take 40 minutes to get on a bus with 2 small children was not going to work. So we ran over to the monorail and switched at TTC to EPCOT monorail. We spent some time in EPCOT as we walked out of the World Showcase onto a boat and finally back to BWV. My brother in law took the bus and did not get back for another 45 minutes. He said he waited a good 90 minutes. That is horrible. I will make sure to drive to MK in the future if I am staying at BWV or BCV.

I for one am happy there is the boat. If it is there when we are leaving Epcot, it saves me walking back to the resort with my tired children. If it isn't there, we usually wait for it with tired children.

The walk to Epcot is very convienent, and my kids have no problem when they are excited to be heading in. But the way home their "little legs get tired" to quote my four year old, and I end up carrying them as much

And I don't think we really have a choice about "paying for it" Disney has determined that a boat is the way to get from MGM to Epcot and have resorts in between for the boat to stop at. Those resorts serve many many more guests than just the BW and BC DVC membership.

(One of the ways I think Disney could help the bus issue is to open the International Gateway for passthrough traffic only for the monorail beginning at 7:00 am and start running the monorails at 7:30. Its quite a hike from the BW to the monorail station, but a lot of us are willing to do it in the afternoon or evening to avoid the buses - I'd guess a lot of us would be willing to do it in the morning to avoid the buses.).

Kansas -- We stayed at BWV in October. Our room # was 3132 -- same distance from lobby as you were, but we also had to take the elevator up to 3. Unbelievable distance to walk. It took us 330 steps from elevator to room and 220 from room to ice machine! Somehow it seemed easier to walk when I did a "step" countdown.

The buses were horrible. I simply cannot believe (as so many others have already stated) that there is only one bus for 5 DELUXE resorts. Makes no sense at all. Came back to BWV from DD around 6:30 one afternoon. The bus was already so crowded that I could barely get off, and there must have been at least 40 people waiting. What a joke! If I were paying big bucks to stay @BW, I would really be incensed.

I am seriously thinking about BCV next time because of the long walk to the room and the riduculous bus service even tho I really love Boardwalk (except for the above problems).

I just received an email from JAckie Lueders of Disney VAcation club membeship services. She stated my complaint about Disney Bus's, was being forwarded to appro. people at Walt Disney World.
I would ask everyone that feels the same, as I do, to please send an email to members@disneyVacationclub.com

JAckie Lueders

Thank you in advance

When I was there in October, Swan and Dolphin were once again separate buses from/to both MK and AK. We never stopped at Swan or Dolphin on any bus ride.

I don't think it's any longer to walk from Spaceship Earth to the Gateway boat than it is to walk from World Showplace to the buses.

Maybe we should forward a link to this page to Jackie, if she see's some of these comments it may help.

I'd love to have the option of walking to the monorail instead of waiting for a bus. I'd prefer to have better bus service, but I would definitely take advantage of this "perk" if it is ever offered.

Did as you suggested and Jackie replied to say that she has forwarded the issue to Disney.

Pass the buck............ Nothing will come of it. It will be bus service as usual. Too bad ,that is about the only negitive thing about BWV. I dread the thought of going to MK and AK on my trips home. I may rent a car just for that reason.
