Boardwalk view

Is requesting a Boardwalk view something new? We are going to the Boardwalk in July. I had booked a standard 2 bedroom but I had to change the dates today. Unfortunately, there were only preferred view 1 bedroom units available. (We always book standard) So anyway, I asked what are the chances of getting a Boardwalk view.It certainly won't make or break my vacation but since we're celebrating my husband's 50th birthday I thought it might be nice. The CM told me she could put me on a waiting list for a Boardwalk view. 2 minutes later she said "oh, you're celebrating your husband's 50th?, let me just check if there's anything available>" So I now have a boardwalk view...does that really mean we will get a Boardwalk view or does that just mean they will try to get us that.Thanks in advance for any responses.

It means you have it reserved. It started about 18 months ago, when room ready check-in started. They split preferred into boardwalk view and pool/garden view to lessen problems at check-in.
