I really had my heart set on a boardwalk view studio for our June trip [my 13 year son and I - DH only goes with us every 3 years], but when I tried to reserve right at the 7 month mark, 2 nights of my 6 night request was not available. The CM suggested I go ahead and take the garden view and waitlist for the entire 6 nights for the BW view. Since I'm not convinced the entire 6 nights will come through and I don't want to risk moving around, I want to manage my expectations if it doesn't come through. I have stayed at Boardwalk twice, but never with a direct boardwalk view; one time standard view and another time village green - which was lovely. Do you recommend staying at Boardwalk if the garden/preferred view is all that's available?

At this point, all of the other resorts are available. I am an owner at AKV and would like something different; BLT point usage kills me; and we will have the premium AP for water parks so BCV doesn't really interest me - hate the available views.

I would book it and request Village Green and also waitlist boardwalk view. You still have the great location.

I would do this too. There are mostly studios in the VG area, so I think you have a good chance to be there.

Realizing that everything at OKW is connected by bus, and that you can not walk to a park...you still might consider an OKW studio so both you and your 13 yo son could have a real queen sized bed, as all OKW studios have 2 beds, no sofa.

That would be my advice as well. I am one of those who love the standard view....so a pool/garden preferred view isn't a huge deal for me. And since I like to maximize my points, I usually try to book standard views whenever possible.
I have had boardwalk views, and enjoyed them. But to be perfectly honest?? I don't spend enough time either looking out at the view, or sitting out on the balcony.
The only balconies that I have really spent any time on were at BLT and Kidani. Other than that, not so much.

Well, I did what everyone said, booked the garden view and waitlisted the boardwalk view. As much as I would love to have a direct boardwalk view, all this talk about the noise of it frightens me. I have a very low tolerance for that. In fact, remembering the village green view we had back in 2003 makes me actually hope that's what I get instead, so I might even drop the waitlist. I'm so fickle. :goodvibes

fyi, we have not found noise from the BW troublesome (the resort itself is very quiet).
i'm a very light sleeper, and need to use a sound machine at home and on vaca (low volume). i can only recall once in all the years we have stayed BW view that noise woke me - it was a group from jellyrolls, but they passed quickly enough that i was able to go back to sleep. we've experienced more problems with noise from the hallways, etc at other resorts - the hallway crying and yelling at some tends to start very early and end extremelly late (especially BCV).
btw, we've found any room near a main pool gets very loud during the day, no matter what resort.
BW view really is amazing :cloud9: since experiencing almost every mod, deluxe, and DVC resort and view on property, we only book BWV BW view (and will change dates if unavailable) - it is, simply, that good:)

We've booked the BW view a few times. There was a night or two when we heard noise on the boardwalk from folks who were just not done partying at Atlantic Dance Hall or Jellyrolls (I'd guess) at around closing time. But, it seems to me that this is the exception--and I wouldn't let that keep me from booking a BW view.

Normally, we book a std view to save points. But, I will say when we have gone with the BW view, it was spectacular and I have never been disappointed with the view.

I think you have a good plan in place. It seems like either way will be really nice.

We own at BWV, but the first time we went, had to get on the wait list since it was during the holiday season and we wanted a 2 bedroom with the boardwalk view. Definitely go on the wait list. You never know! Ours came through and there's nothing like the boardwalk view.
