Hi,

We have plans for dinner and hanging out at the Boardwalk area on a Saturday night. Eventually we need to get back to Ft. Wilderness. It seems like the easiest/direct way back is to take the monorail to TTC and then maybe get one of the resort launches, or another TTC option. Is that about right? Is the Epcot monorail within walking distance of the Boardwalk or Swan/Dolphin?

TIA!

EPCOT would require a long walk through EPCOT and you'd have to use a park admission. Walking or taking the boat to the Disney-MGM Studio's is the better option.

Take a cab -- honestly, they aren't that expensive, and you'll save yourself a giant headache -- I guarantee it.

I'll put my 2cents in with Lewisc. We've done this before back in '02. I won't argue that a cab would probably be the quickest route. But if you'd prefer to take the free Disney transport route, then a boat/walk to MGM and grab a bus to FW. That's the best "free" option I can think of.

Keep in mind that going back to MGM & getting a bus there will only work if MGM transportation is still running, which I believe it generally does for about 2 hours after park closing time. If, for example, you stay at the Boardwalk until midnight, and MGM closed at 8 or 9, going back to the park to get a bus would not owrk. In that case, your options are take a cab (quickest) or take a bus to Downtown Disney, then a bus to your resort (free).

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I was confused because I saw some directions on All Ears that said to take buses to Epcot and then a Friendship boat to the Epcot resorts. I didn't realize these Friendship boats were not near the "main" entrance to Epcot.

On the night in question, MGM is open until 8pm, so it sounds like we have until roughly 10pm to head back to MGM to catch a resort bus.

Your other option is to catch a bus from Boardwalk to DTD (if you have missed the MGM bus). Then take a bust from DTD to Ft. Wilderness. It will take a while, but at least you won't be rushed :)

If the Magic Kingdom is still open you can catch a bus at any of the Boardwalk resorts (Boardwalk, Swan/Dolphin, Beach/Yacht clubs) to the MK and then take the boat over to Fort Wilderness.
For a taxi back to FW just walk into any of the Epcot resorts and out the main entrance. Taxis are normally waiting outside all WDW resorts. If one is not there a Cast Member will get one for you right away.

The boats will stop running 1 hour after MGM closes. So you would have to walk back to MGM to catch the bus.
