I was just looking at another website they had a picture of the Boardwalk with a huge tarp on the front of it. Anyone know how long this is going to last? What happens if you have a room with a view and there is this tarp on the whole front of the building??? :confused3 maybe it was a old picture i saw

I was wondering the same thing. I WAS booked at BWV, but now I'm thankful that I moved to BCV. I do have some dinner reservations at BW restaurants, though. I'm wondering if I should move those too.

I think you're right, LMO429 - looks like renovations are ongoing....

I'm here now and the scaffolding/netting was over part of the Boardwalk Inn, BW Bakery & ESPN Arcade. The partition is down at the Bakery and only a small section of the BWI is still covered.

I don't think they put guests in rooms that are covered due to liability issues with the scaffolding...

HTH!!!

Are we having fun Barb?? Tell 'em to get the beds made, I'm starting to get my stuff ready. I'll be there in two shakes of a lambs tail. Hope you're having a ball.

Hey Travelin Tigger! I'm sooo jealous! I hope you're having a wonderful time, our time is coming up very soon too.
Do you know if they are refurbishing the rooms too, or is it just a sprucing up of the hotel grounds? I was hoping the BWI would get some of those nifty TV's that the other Deluxe resorts have.

we're renting points for a studio with preferred view in march, and I would love to read a recent report on the rooms, etc

We're just back from BWV today in fact and yes, there is a large section above the bakery and such that is covered with tarp. I don't think they are housing anybody in that area right now. I really couldn't tell what they were doing, but I don't think it had to do with the rooms, but more with the main floor areas, again, I really don't know though.

The villas side was nice however, we are seeing some signs of wear and tear. Our room had a leak and we had continuous visits from housekeeping/maintenance to sop of some of the water on the carpet. The hallways and rooms are showing some wear and tear. It didn't stop us from having a good time; we love the location and the easy access to EPCOT and MGM.

Just an FYI -- I wrote to IPO to ask about the work going on there, this is the reply I received:

Good Afternoon

As far as we know all the upgrades are being done at the courtyards by
the Garden Suites (hotel grounds)and on the side of building. There is
scaffolding up and according to maintenance most of the project should
be done by early December.

If you need any further assistance please let us know. Thank You!

Have A Magical Day!

Wouldn't you know it, I'll be at the Garden Suites in early December. Hope they finish on schedule!

Jean, Patrick and I will be arriving on turkey day and will be there until December 1st. When will you be around?

Barb - Have a great time:cool1:

I wouldn't be so sure. Near the end of my VWL trip in September, I received a letter under the door that said they would be working on the outside of the resort, that there would be scaffolding set up, and for privacy, they suggested keeping your curtains closed. Not what you would want to hear if you had booked a room specifically for the view. Fortunately, they didn't get to my part of the building before I left, but I did see the scaffolding set up in front of other rooms, and I assume they received the same letter.

The scaffolding went up on October 23rd and the netting followed a day or so later. I felt as if it was a fairly extensive area. It encompassed the area from the Arcade at ESPN past Seashore Sweets. On the ESPN end we could see them working on the roof, but it seemed as if they were working on the outside of the building. We were in the Villas and walked by each day. You could barely tell that the Bakery was still open.

That reminds me of a time we stayed at the Grand Californian at Disneyland. We were never told that there was work going on in the hotel, not even when we checked in. We got the letter in our room too. We arrived on the weekend so they were not working, but by Monday we had a painter out on our balcony for most of the morning. They also stored their equipment in the area outside our room, so I had a great view of that. When I called to try to change rooms, we were told they were at 100% occupancy and had no other available rooms. I would not be happy if that happened at the BWI. It will be our first trip to WDW and I want it to be perfect.

We're at BWV right now, and I don't see any construction going on!!!!!!!!
The decorations in the lobby are beautiful!:thumbsup2
