We are long time members of DVC at BWV. We are going to Disneyworld in June and staying off property this time with family. We like to go to the Boardwalk in the evening and eat at ESPN or Spoodles with the family. We know we can't park all three cars at Boardwalk. We also get frustrated staying at BWV and not finding a parking spot! There is a parking area across from BWV. Can we park there for free? And if so, do we need to let anybody know we are parking there? Thanks for any help.

I don't think you will have any problems parking your vehicles at the BW if you are there to dine. We stayed off property recently, but made 2 trips to the ESPN Zone at the BW. We just told the guard at the gate we were there for dinner and he let us in to park.

No problems finding a spot the first time as we arrived mid-afternoon. The second time, the self parking was full (we arrived around 6:00) and we did have to park in the lot across the street. The only problem was that it was a little bit of a hike to get from the car to ESPN.

I could see how this might be a little frustrating to the guests staying at the BW as they have to fight for parking spaces with others who are not staying at the hotel since the self parking close by seems somewhat limited.

Would you consider valet parking? DVC members get free valet. Non-Members are $7.00. I used it earlier this month, there were 4 of us, we threw in $1 each for the tip. We only waited a couple minutes for the car to be pulled up.

That parking lot across the street is free access to anyone.

Consider valet parking because for a DVC member, the charge is only the tip you decide to give, and DVC members get the free valet regardless of where they are staying.

If you show up in the evening to go to boardwalk, there is usually no problem getting into the main lot even if not valet. They now generally try to prevent people just coming to the BW to park for Epcot or MGM but that is something they enforce mostly in the morning to early afternoon, not the evening when boardwalk is open. Note, it used to be easy for interlopers to get in even in the morning. When that occurred the lot across the street remained virtually empty. Once they started some enfocement for the main parking lot in the morning, the lot across the street started getting crowded during the day.

I always park in the free lot across from BWV and have never had any problems. The walk is not that far from the Boardwalk and I feel like I'm getting an additional chance to walk off all the food I've eaten.

If you do decide to valet, just remember to bring your blue member card with you. You need to show it to the valet.
