Boardwalk or POR

I know for some DISers there wouldn't be a choice!

We have stayed at POP, CBR, WL and the BC previously and liked them all. We would return to any of them but would also like to try something new.

We are going for 4 nights in April 2006 before we head over to Lakeland for 4 days at Sun 'n Fun - an airplane/pilot event.

DH would really like to stay at the Boardwalk Inn - he loves the location to Epcot, we pretty much spend our evenings there, eat most our dinners there, and watch the live entertainers. But it's peak season, so 4 nights will cost $1664.00 (so in Canadian that's like $1,000,000.00!)

I was originally going to book POR for $754.00, then DH says he wants to stay at "the place near Epcot, opposite where we stayed last time, you know had the big clown pool!"

He said the trusts me to book the trip and he never normally expresses an interest in where we stay, so long as it's non smoking and he can make a coffee. So do I go with the BWI (it's not until April, so we can budget accordingly) or do I go with POR?

I just can't get over the $400+ a night.....the BC was only $224.00 on room only rate.

Do you think there will be any discounts in April (1 to 5th) or just the peak season rate?

If money isn't a concern, then I would go with BW. I actually liked PO-R better than the BW. It is less busy. Don't get me wrong, the BW is beautiful & the rooms are bigger and very nice inside, but I like the quietness of PO-R.

We have stayed at both, and they are both very nice places. I would give BW more points because of the advantage of walking to Epcot and MGM.
I would for whatever discounts I could, but go with B/W. Nothing spoils a trip like a grumpy husband!

With you`ll being Epcot fans, like me, the location of the BW can not be beat!! My family likes to walk back from Epcot after Illumations instead of waiting for boats or the monrail. And you can stop at the ESPN Club for a nightcap! PRICELESS !!! If $$$ is no problem, then it would definately be the BW for me.

BW would be my pick as well, but your right big difference in $$$. It sounds to me like it might be worth it in your case since you spend so much time at epcot and the boardwalk anyways. I just returned from the boardwalk recently and escaping epcot after the fireworks out the backdoor is priceless!

I Sent you a Private message..

with some help ...

seems like for about $220.00 more than P/O..
you may be able to stay at the Boardwalk...

Boardwalk. If your DH says he wants to stay there, he's going to have a better time and be that much more fun to be with - making it a better trip for you too! if you do.

Maybe you can rent points for the Boardwalk Villas. Check out the Disney Vacation Club threads.

WE love both resorts. Own at BWV though. We love to start our trip at BW and then finish it at POR for those pricey Fri and Sat nights. If your DH likes BW as much as he seems to, then I would book there. Keep your eyes open for a good rate, check out the DVC Rent and Trade boards...you could find a great deal there.

Hygiene99, your cockers are so cute! I've grown up with cockers and my mom has 2 now that we often babysit (we're waiting til we move to adopt some).

Rachael Q, I've stayed at both and like both. But BWI is one of my favorites, if not the favorite. DH had wanted to stay there, and he loved it too. See if you can't get a discount; I live in FL and get FL discounts so not sure about other discounts. You can always book now and apply the discount later. If DH wants to stay there, it might be worth it, esp. since you spend a lot of time there.
