Debating between the Boardwalk or Beach resorts for a trip to Disney with my sister and her family. We are thinking about the Beach resort, since they have Stormalong Bay and that would be great for the kids ages 6, 10, and 16. Are both resorts similar?

The BC has the Marketplace for counter service meals as well as Hurricane Hannah's for counter service lunch and dinner. BWI only has the bakery for counter service meals, which to me is the biggest disadvantage of that resort. They both have similar rooms, but I think BC is a much better choice with kids who like to swim. :)

They are very similar, wiith themeing being a major difference - other than the pools. SAB is the best pool on property really more like a mini water park.
Beach Club is closer to Epcot, Boardwalk Inn is closer to DHS. Either are within walking distance of both though. I have stayed at both and I like both.
However, Beach Club is my first choice

Yes they are similarly themed and located near each other. BWI does have Leaping Libations by the pool for counter service and all of the boardwalk style treat vendors out on the Boardwalk if you want hot dogs, burgers or fried mac n cheese bites. YUM!
BWI is quieter. BC is livelier.

Stormalong Bay is a wonderful pool and if you are going to be taking advantage of it then definitely go with Beach Club. Luna Park (the pool at Boardwalk Inn) has a better slide in my opinion! The Keister Koaster! Also Luna Park is quieter. We never had troubles finding a place to sit at Luna Park while at Stormalong Bay we spent lots of time circling trying to find a single chair! With a 16 year old I would definitely go with Beach Club, with a 10 and 6 year old - depends on what kind of swimmers they are and if they are the kind of kids that need quiet after stimulating days at the parks.

I've stayed at both, although to be honest at BW I stayed in a villa studio so can't speak to how an Inn room would be. The style is different but like all deluxes the rooms are fairly large. There are advantages to both, I like the QS option at BC better than BW and I like the proximity to Epcot at BC as opposed to the proximity to HS at BW since Epcot is my go to park. I did like getting up really early in the mornings while my DS and DIL slept at BW and getting a cup of coffee and sitting on the big porch that looks out over the boardwalk at BW, they have some great chairs there. I can't speak to the pool situation, when my son was smaller we stayed at YC/BC and I didn't stay at BW until he was older so it didn't matter since we use the quiet pools now. He did love the pool at BC/YC though. I think for me it would boil down to which ever one came out less money, the few times I've stayed at BWV was for simply that reason. You can't go wrong with either one.

Both are great resorts. My first choice has always been the BC. I really like the pool, the short walk to Epcot and the quick service dining options there. We really like being on the beach end of the YC/BC too, so it is usually the BC for us. You can easily walk over to the Boardwalk and take advantage of the BW activities while staying here.

All that said we had an absolutely wonderful stay at the BWI CL last January. I am not as fond of Luna Park as SAB. The Clown creeps me out !!

You can have a great stay at either resort, but my choice for the age of your kids would be the BC, primarily for SAB.

:thumbsup2 Totally agree. We love the BC. It's also closer to Epcot.

For the kids I would say BC simply for the food options and the pool.

Thank you everyone for the responses. I will review with my sister, but I think the Beach Club sounds to be the right choice for us. Never stayed at the Epcot resorts before, and looking forward to it. Again, thanks!
