boardwalk nightmare!

Please do not blame all for the actions of a few. I know the GM at the BW and he would be as upset over what happened as everyone else.

If one particular manager did not represent the resort well, I suggest you write and let them know, for believe me they do care.

Sadly the GMs can not be at the Front Desk when everyone checks in as they are very busy people. About a year ago Disney downsized all the managers at each resort and gave them two very busy jobs that in the past had seperate general managers.

Was it a good idea, of course not, but it came from the higher ups and it was agree with it, or lose your job.

You are very lucky to have never waited past 4pm for you room since check in for DVC is after 4pm.

We will absolutely write a letter. I am sure we saw a mid-level manager as it was 10pm - but you know, having a bad management team beneath a good manager is deadly. I just think the resort deserves better because it has everything else going for it.

Thanks, starbox, for taking the time to write a letter about how the manager treated you. We also love staying at BWV and want to have it managed properly. Hopefully a little extra pixie dust will come your way on your next trip!

Starbox,
Happy anniversary. I'm glad you were finally able to get satisfaction.

We were at the BWV 8-12 Dec in a studio room. We had a preferred view on the first night and a std view for the other 3 nights. (Somehow we always have to tweak our early Dec dates and we end up with a patchwork of reservations. :) ).

As it turned out we were on the end closest to the walk to Disney Studios. We faced the hospitality center on our first night. We were directly across the hall on nights 2-4. I didn't know it at the time, but I saw housekeeping go into our new room to clean it as we checked out of our first room (at about 10:30am)

We were supposed to get a text when our new room was ready, but did not. We finally went to the front desk at 5pm and were told the room was ready. (No apology or explanation as to why we didn't get a text). I had the CM verify that they had the correct phone number--She read back the correct number.

It seems that a lot of folks who are reporting this problem were checking out and checking back into the same hotel.

Definitely write a letter, I am just glad you got your wine back, :thumbsup2

We are boardwalk and beach club owners. The only problems that we have had with nasty cast members have been at boardwalk during check in and it is consistently rude each year.

Completely unrelated to the OP's room not being ready....but the whole cell phone issue down here is messed up right now!

We were having lunch at the Rose & Crown yesterday. We let the 12, 12 and 13 y/o leave early and go off on their own. All three had cell phones as did all of the parents. We could not get a single call through to them. Everything went directly to voicemail. Finally 1/2 way through the Candlelight processional, DH's phone gets 9 text messages. They were from DS who had been trying to get ahold of us for 2 hours. It was crazy! Calls, voicemails, and texts were not going through. Later we also tried calling my mom and BIL tried calling my sister and the calls wouldn't go through, but some more text messages popped through from hours earlier! The only thing we can think of is that there are so many people using cell phones that the towers cannot handle all of the calls. It was a little unnerving not being able to get ahold of the kids! Now we are leary of letting them go off on their own again!

Alexander: To say that the "whole cell phone issue is messed up" is probably inaccurate. Every service provider (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc) operates their own network. Although they usually lease space on a tower, the antennas, base station, networking, etc. is totally run by that service provider. Provider A could be having problems, but Provider B could be operating just fine. I suppose traffic could be heavy enough on everybody's network to bog them all down, but I doubt it.

Text message room ready - This has never worked for us. In July, during our Boardwalk check-in fiasco, there were at least 4-5 very irate guests checking in with the same issues. Several of them were IT people, and were downright insulted when Boardwalk tried to use the old, "Are you sure your phone was on?" or, "Maybe you don't know how to receive text messages?" I kid you not! Several of us just told them we prefer that they don't lie or insult guests, just tell us you don't use the text message service, or, that it's broken.

Boardwalk had huge issues that day, and based on this thread, they seem to have those issues always. I honestly don't think they even send out the text messages to guests - probably overworked CMs who don't have time, or, a way outdated Disney IT Dept.

Well things only got worse from there the second day i was there the toilet overflowed and the day after that the blow dryer caught fire.

MISSY AND FAMILY

Looking at the glass half full - you had water to fight the fire.

Not always. I've stayed at BWV at least 10 times and never had an issue. The latest I got a room was 4:00pm. My last trip was the end of October and our room was ready when we checked in around 2:00pm.

Well, considering there were 12 people in our group and we had 10 phones with us on AT&T, Verizon, and TracFone(which ever towers they use) networks, I would say the whole cell phone situation was messed up since NONE of them were receiving texts, voicemail, or calls. Everyone could send, but no one was receiving.

Just a note to say I think the OP handled this very well on her part. Some people would have let this ruin their vacation. That doesn't seem like the case here. Enjoy the rest of it!!

This is what I was thinking! What a positive reaction to a bad situation. :)

I was would say as crowded as it has been recently it would not be unusual for text messages to be delayed. It happens when we go to a large concert or sporting event, simply too many people in the same area using their phones.

Strange and quite unusual. Thanks!

We haven't had any problems with our phones since Monday night. Everything is working as normal. Well, except for the occassional missed call or text that is still arriving from Monday night! We have gotten texts as late as Wednesday night that were sent Monday night! But all is working now!

Also, we asked at 5:30 if we could just be called when the room confusion was fixed and were told they could not call because a computer makes those calls and it was after 4:00.

Yes, It's that new Computers' Union. They go off-line at 4 pm. Period. :headache:

Merry Christmas Miss "A" and family! :santa:

How could the CM actually use that excuse with a straight face?

Okay - ya'll will get a kick out of this.

I checked my DVC balances today to see if they refunded the points, and they did. :thumbsup2 BUT - in the 2010 use year. Which is about to expire. And is way past the banking window. Maybe I could go NEXT WEEK. :rotfl2::lmao:

At this point, my sad story is just getting silly. You've got to laugh. Right?

Instead of laughing, call Member satisfaction again and tell them you want the ability to BANK those points.

Rent them out.

I just purchased a BWV resale contract in Aug, with point left expiring in Sept.
I posted them on the R/T board and made more than $350 off points that were no use to me.

Got paid via Paypall, cashed it out for a Walmart gift card. Viola, all our in room meals for the next trip paid for.
