Hello Everyone!! I am very new to the DIS discussion boards and I am planning my honeymoon for next June 2008. My fiance and I are looking into the Boardwalk Inn for our resort. Our first trip to Disney was in 2004 and we stayed at the All Star Movies Resort and it was great but for our honeymoon, we want something more upscale than before. Has anyone ever stayed at the Boardwalk Inn? What did you think of it? How was your expierence? buses, food, service, rooms? Thanks to all that responds. :cool1: :dance3: :thumbsup2 :happytv:

We stayed at the villas last September. We loved the location, and the resort itself. The buses to the MK and AK were never a long wait and we just walked to Epcot and MGM.

Our only issue was the lack of counter service places to eat and no actual inside the resort restaurants. Anytime you want something you have to go to the Boardwalk to get it. But we would definetly stay here again.

We actually just got back from the Beach Club . We picked it over the Boardwalk because the kids like Storm a Long Bay better, but the scarey clown pool is fun too.

We stayed at the BWI this past January. We absolutely loved it! The staff at the BW were very accomadating. We had a couple of minor issues and they went above and beyond to recitify the situation.
The BW at night was great. There was a juggler who my girls absolutely loved to watch.
We found the buses to run pretty well. Buses are shared with other resorts. The ferry was very enjoyable to ride as well. You can walk to EPCOT or MGM if you want.
All in all our family had a blast there! :thumbsup2

We just came back from the Boardwalk 3 weeks ago. We love this resort. It is within walking and boating to Epcot and MGM. The Flying Fish is a great place for dinner, as well as Spoodles. You can also eat at the ESPN and Big River Grille Works. Jelly Rolls with dueling pianos offers entertainment. Also on the Boardwalk there is enterainment nightly. You can easily walk to the Beach Club, Swan, Dolphin, or the Yacht Club which offers excellent restaurants as well. The CM are great. If you are lucky enough to stay up in Concierge, you are treated as if you are part of the family.:goodvibes If I can answer anyother questions, feel free to ask.

I have to agree I love the boardwalk Inn as well. We (my boyfriend and I early 30s) stayed there last oct and loved every second of it...about 4 weeks ago we stayed at the Beach Club due solely to SAB...we didnt really love the pool at the boardwalk..its a little 2 kiddie for us so we decided to stay somewhere new..We def liked the boardwalk over the beach club!!!!

You are making the right choice..Since you are on your honeymoon i suggest spending the extra money for a water view. We had one when we went and it was so worth the extra $$$. We had a room right above spoodles and it was great to be able to go out on the boardwalk every morning and eat breakfast on the balcony! plus at night when there was entertainment going on we were able to see it from above.

Buses make stops at the swan and dolphin and yacht and beach club...but we never really had to wait long for any of them (then again we went in the off season early may and late oct i dont know how june is)

def eat at spoodles we love that restaurant...plus the fact if you have a park hopper you can eat at a different restaurant at epcot at night is an added bonus! Epcot literally is a 5 minute walk from the boardwalk

enjoy imo its a great spot for a honeymoon!!!

i got engaged on main street this past may!!!! and it was perfect!

My mother and I did an adults only trip this past December and we loved the BW. We stayed at the Villas though. I'm not sure if my kids would have like it as much. It was very quiet and relaxed. The grounds were beautiful. I can't comment on the entertainment, because we didn't see any. We must have been coming back too late or something. The bus service was good...didn't wait long. We didn't care for the boat service though. It took forever and most of the time we would have to wait for a couple of boats because there was no room for anyone to get on.

Other than that..a great stay.

My first stay at BWI is next month! We are hoping for a romantic resort as well. Ill letcha know =)

Jelly Rolls is a dualing piano bar type place. No reservations needed. But they do charge I believe a $7-8.00 cover charge.

Spoodles is a good place. Its a nicer restaurant we thought, food was good. We ate there for the first time last September and was pleasantly surprised.

Boardwalk is our favorite!! You will love it. We do not stay anyplace else now. We tried the WL one year and it was nice but we were homesick for the Boardwalk. It is fun at night and the restaurants are great. The pool is fun. We love sitting on our balcony at night and watching the entertainers on the Boardwalk if we are not right down in the action. As nascargirl said, concierge is a blast if you choose to do so! The walk to EPCOT is nice and relaxing and you can walk or boat to MGM!:thumbsup2

We've stayed at the BWI three times. It is our favorite and I think it is a perfect choice for a honeymoon.

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Good luck and have fun!

Just got back from the Boardwalk Inn on Monday. It was lovely. We had a standard view room with a lovely view of a courtyard and we could see Spaceship Earth (the very top) and the Eiffel tower as well, with the high fireworks at night. The only negative is the lack of a food court. Other than that, I would highly recommend BWI. We loved getting breakfast at the bakery in the morning and eating out on the Boardwalk. So relaxing:cloud9:

We're also big fans of the BWI. So many restaurants just in walking distance. Enjoy!

I'll make this short, as you already have many responses! We stayed at the Boardwalk 2 weeks ago for 4 nights. Here are my thoughts:

1. Our room was located near the quite pool, and it was quite the whole week! Kids prefer the large, themed pool, so the quite pool is great for adults, or honeymooners.

2. I didn't like the lack of counter service options. The Boardwalk Bakery was ok for getting pasteries in the morning, but we prefer more substantial breakfast items, like eggs, and waffles.

3. Which leads to this: We ended up eating at Spoodles twice for breakfast. The food was great, even though we couldn't afford to eat here every morning!

4. Flying Fish: We had dinner here, and it was amazing! I highly reccomend getting an ADR for this restaurant.

5. This wasn't really a problem, but there was a situation with the Disney buses at the Boardwalk. One night we were waiting for a DTD bus, and after 25 minutes one showed up. The driver pulled up, and opened the doors for people to get off at the Boardwalk. Well no one got off. So he told us the bus was full and he couldn't take any passengers. We were instructed to wait for another DTD bus. Another 25 minutes later another shows up, and we go thru the same thing!! (BTW, we weren't the only ones waiting for a DTD bus. By this time, there were over 15 of us!) So the second driver told us to wait for another DTD bus...... After 50 minutes of wasting time, I tell my husband that we should boat over to the Dolphin, and bus to Downtown Disney from there.

So I just reccomend you research the transportation options at the Boardwalk so you can improvise if needed. (If I had known that the 2nd bus was going to be full too, I would have left the bus stop after 25 minutes, instead of waiting!)

That in it self didn't ruin my trip. The Boardwalk is a wonderful resort and I'm glad we stayed there!
