Anyone stayed recently at BWV while the construction was going on? Was it loud at the pool or in the guest rooms?

I saw on the members web site there is something going on and was a little sad as our last visit was 1+1/2 years ago and there was major construction(PV) and the trip before (SV) work then too. We will be on the sv side next month. I want to go home and enjoy for a change without my home being broken.

I stayed there twice during the last phase of construction there (gee, I thought they were done with that!) and I have to say that, while the construction did detract some from the visual experience, there was no noise whatsoever. And they were working very near my room.

That being said, though, I'm glad I'm staying at BCV next time.

What area are they working on? Can you see the construction from any of the villas?

Nothing going on at the Boardwalk Villas or Inn,tha's all done. There is work going on at the Beach and Yacht Club and mostly on the back side away from the boardwalk itself.

Maintenance update: Disney's BoardWalk Resort
As we continue to ensure facilities are maintained to the highest standard, portions of Disney's BoardWalk Resort will be undergoing building maintenance and work will extend to limited areas of Disney's BoardWalk Villas. Sections of the porte cochere roof will be replaced this month, and segments of the Resort's piping system will be updated through July 2004. Work on the piping system will take place in the Guest room building corridors and surrounding areas daily during the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. No work is scheduled inside Guest rooms. Please contact Member Services for more information.

I called about this. I was told I could change my ressie, that they couldn't guarantee anything so if I was worried... but then they didn't have anything else that worked for us that week. Hopefully, it won't be too bad.

I don't know whether to be worried about this or not. We will be there in mid-June. Maybe they will be finished with the bulk of the work by then. I was at BWI when they were doing construction and although some of the areas looked a little unsightly, there was no noise associated with it that I noticed.

First the siding proves to be substandard and has to be replaced- now they have to replace pipes. What the heck kind of shoddy construction is this? I am sick of going there and seeing construction eyesores. We'll report back once we get there next weekend. woo hoo!

Calm down everyone!! If you read what was written in VM it states:
"limited" areas, "sections" of porte cochere roof and "segments" of piping!!!!!!!!!!
This does not sound like major construction or renovation to me!
I was just at BWV in Feb and everything looked as good as ever. Relax and enjoy your trips. Or if you are that worried about it, change your reservations to another DVC resort. Personally I think you would be making a big mistake, but there is no sense in stressing over what is supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable time, for goodness sake!

We are just back from a spring break week at BWV. Stayed in a SV room on the 4th floor. Never saw any signs of the construction described in this recent VM. The only thing we saw was a painter replacing some of the wallpaper in a small section of the hallway one day. This was the first time we hadn't seen painters touching up a section of the hallway almost every day.

Ralph,

We must have been there at the same time (last week). We, too, saw a man replacing some wallpaper down by the workout room (just as you go out the door to the pool). He was very unobtrusive. It was nice to see actually. As for the construction. We did have a standard view room and were directly across from the room over the valet area. We did see them replacing the shingles while there. When we left on Friday, it looked like they would be finished that day.

Nothing else visible.

Hope that helps.

Hi all,

We just got back from a wonderful trip to BWV on rented points--we had studio #2125 (long walk to the elevator, short walk to the stairs). The carpeting in that part of the floor--from about 2123 to the stairs--was all covered with plastic dropcloths (but they were secured to the floor very well) and there were signs saying that they would be working on the pipes from 9 - 5. Now we weren't around much during those hours, but we saw/heard no other evidence of construction at all, and the dropcloths were not a big deal to us.

Just my experience--hope somebody finds it helpful--

Mary

We just got back. We had a boardwalk view. One morning I thought I heard pounding, 3 times in a row. Construction? I don't know, but that's all I heard. I did see a truck out front when we checked out on the 19th. But that's it!
