Boardwalk Bride's PJ Morocco/Canada/Attic/SCP updates 01/09!!

I got my mantilla on eBay for $40. It's the exactly one from davids bridal that I liked. I wasn't crazy about the quality of the tule the lace is sewed to but the lace is high quality and my grandmother is taking the lace and sewing it to a higher quality tule we bought at a fabric store. It's a softer, more delicate looking. So in total it cost $65. The 40 plus the $25 for the new fabric. Waaaay cheaper than the ones at the bridal stores.

That is a great price!!!! The ones that I posted earlier are from Etsy. One is $100, but the seller has a 100% positive review, and for a cathedral length, I figured that was a good price!

I just thought of another reason why I cannot wait until my wedding.....it means I will be done school!!!!!!!!!! I have been in university for SIX years, and I am ready to be done for good!!! I only have a few classes, but at a masters level you can't get away with BS and skipping class, so everything require so much extra effort. EERRR.....Anyway, that will just be one more reason to celebrate!!

So to calm myself down from school I am working on my wedding plans and drinking some "vice". (Vice is this new thing I found on my latest wine touring adventures, and it is half vodka, half ice wine...it is pretty much happiness in a glass). Anyway, I have been thinking a lot about the aisle decor. I really think (and my planner suggested as well) that there should be something on the aisle, since it is just gray cement. She suggested rose petals, but I just feel that it doesn't really work for me. First of all, I don't really like roses (even though they are just petals) and second, I just feel they are too "elegant" against the rock and water backdrop. So I found some wedding pics that used herbs instead. I think they could look really great at my venue, and with my colours.

I am hoping we will be allowed to use them. I am assuming it won't be a problem, since they are natural, but you never know! I just can't decided if I want them scattered, or lining the aisle :confused3

Oh I love that Idea! I Like the way it looks along the aisle and this way your not walking all over it and such. I would say that the herbs should be allowed if the flower petals are. They both need to be cleaned up.

Ohh I love those!! I think they would be pretty lining the aisle...so it's more concentrated.

Thanks for your opinions ladies! Yah, I think I am going to use them to line the aisle instead! I like the idea of them being more concentrated. Hopefully I will have my appointment with the floral coordinator soon to get this going. I have some other decor ideas, I will post later!

So I just caught up on your pj. Everything sounds awesome. I love mantilla veils but thru don't go with my dres but it definitely does with yours. Canada is gorgeous. Part of me wants to switch. And the herb idea is cool. If it's a yes for oyu I may steal your idea. And the gold is a better fit than the red. are you still keeping your shoes?

I love your new location. It sounds like you are really happy with the way your plans are turning out now! :)

I like the addition of the gold to replace the red. I liked the original theme, but this will match perfect! I don't think you have to worry about the cake either!

I like the herb idea. Do you think they will try and convince you they will blow away? I know I've read so many brides who have been told their flowers will blow away outside! I think it's a great idea though if you do it!

Thanks :goodvibes I will let you know if they say the herbs are okay! I really hope they are..I'm not a fan of rose petals at all! I am still going to keep my pink shoes...I am thinking of dressing up for the dessert party and I can wear them than (the rehearsal one). I think we are going to make it a semi-formal event (although not mandatory) since we will prob give in and hire photography for it, so it would be nice if everyone was dressed up (my friends love any opportunity to do this anyway:rotfl:)

Thanks, I am SOOOOOOOOOOO happy:goodvibes The only problem is my budget is going to be WELL exceeded!!! I had a breakdown about this yesterday, since I always refused to spend so much money for "one day", but I have also never been excited to have a wedding. Now that I am, money doesn't seem to matter so much....we might as well just live our dream, since we can.

I don't think they will try and convince me that the flowers will blow away....it was my planner who suggested that I have petals (I think because the gray pavement is kinda ugly in Canada). Especially since that area is kind of surrounded by taller things (the hotel, rocks, etc) I don't think it should be too much of a problem!

WOOO! Then go for it! I guess you are right. With all of the architecture you'll be fine. I really love the location the more I think about it. Even just wandering up near the top with the faux shops, it's beautiful up there!

Can't wait to hear more plans! Don't worry about the cake not matching..even though I'm sure it will. No one is going to say "OH, that cake doesn't match!" They'll be saying how beautiful it is!

Hahahah, if anyone says that, I will not allow them to eat the cake! :rotfl:

Totally random news, but I feel the need to update. This weekend is thanksgiving for Canadians, and for the first time EVER, I am going to make dinner! So we went out and bought a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, etc!!! We have spent the last 4 thanksgivings together, but we always went to Df's family's house (since my parents are too far away). I feel like such a grown up cooking a big turkey dinner.....hopefully it turns out (I didn't see an emoticon for fingers crossed, so imagine it here!)

Good luck with your cooking! It will turn out great and even if there are a few snags, they will just be things you'll laugh about later. Enjoy the day!

Thanks!! I am a pretty good cook, I just have never cooked a turkey before, so I am nervous! DF's mom is coming for dinner, so I am sure she will help. The bad thing is we went out last night, and I just started to feel somewhat okay now. I think by 5 I'll be ready to eat :lmao:

Awe Happy Canadian Turkey day!!! I Hope your dinner comes out Fab!

THANKS!:goodvibes When I was in undergrad, one of my roomates was half American (she is one of my bm's) so we would celebrate American thanksgiving, but we always cooked chicken, since it was easier to find in a portion small enough for 3 people! I am assuming cooking a turkey can't be that different from a chicken!

I think DF's hangover is starting to go away, so I am going to make him gut the turkey soon!

I have more wedding updates too, but I will post them later in the week!

#1) Our dinner was FANTASTIC. The turkey was so moist, and we have soooo much leftover!! Now I don't have to worry about our meals for the next few days :cool1: I took a picture (yes I am serious), I'll post is later

#2) DF's mom, who came over for dinner, wanted to talk about both our wedding and at home reception (which is up in the air). When I explained to her that we found a way to cut down costs at the home one, and do it in a way we like better, (which I will explain later) she offered to pay for most of it! So now we are certain we can have that one! YAY!!!!!!!!!! I think I did post a bit about it before, but I'll add my plans in my PJ for it again in a week or two!

Its so funny you took a picture of the dinner you made... i do the same thing! You have to post it soon

Well, I am supposed to be working on a huge project that is due tomorrow, but since DF is in my group, and he is still sleeping, I thought it was a good time to come back to my Pj!:lmao:

So, we have a feeling that we are going to end up spending more than we planned for our whole trip (so wedding plus vacation). We decided we would rather start cutting things from the vacation before the wedding. So we need to cut down on 2 things: tours and food (so eat more CS and less TS). If anyone has any advice on what to keep or get rid of, please let me know!

Tours:
-Wanyama Safari Resort (sunset safari)
-Epcot around the world on a segway
-behind the seeds

Restaurants:
-Raglan Road
-Biergarten (sp??) - yes, I am giving in a (possibly) trying it
-San Angel Inn
-Big River Grille
-crystal palace
-ohana
-Tusker House (lunch)
- Jiko (if we don't have the tour)
- Sanaa
-Kona
-Boma

I know that DF def wants Raglan rd, and we both want San Angel Inn, and Kona (it is our fav!!) But I can't decide about the rest! The sad thing is, this list is already cut down, lol!

Ok my two cents...Love raglan road, jiko and boma. Never been big on Beirgarten or Crystal Palace.
DF loves 'Ohana and despite bad reviews, I have only had one bad meal there.
Kona was a disaster last time we went, although in the past it was amazing!!

Not sure about the tours though!
