Boardwalk Bride's PJ Morocco/Canada/Attic/SCP updates 01/09!!

Phew just spent over an hour reading your PJ from start to finish.

It's very exciting that you are the first Escape Canada bride.

Oh no, I am so sorry that you had to read through the mess that is my PJ!!! I don't think I will end up being the first Escape Canada bride...it looks like there is a ton of interest now! It would have been fun, but either way, it is the perfect place (for me), no matter what!

Waterfall in Canada and you still get to do an Escape. That rocks! I think with so much time on our hands during the summer our minds truly create the magic we yearn, but no matter what your day is going to be beautiful. Personally I would ask them to keep the benches there...you could decorate them nicely and/or place them in the front. I can't wait to see more pictures of this location. I have my site visit in December, I'll make sure to take tons of pictures!

YAY, thanks!! I google earthed the site, so that I could get a good idea of what the surroundings looked like (I didn't know if it was the Chateau Laurier closer or the Trading Post. It looks like the Chateau Laurier is the background, so I might be able to use the cake I loved since day one, that everyone voted against (because of my candyland theme).

I am really, really happy with the way everything is going now. Having less time to think about everything gives me (and DF) a better perspective on what we want. I do think the carnival theme was neat, but it so wasn't us...it was just a project for me when I was bored. Now, everything seems to be falling into place...venue wise anyway. I may be loosing a huge # of guests (which is MAJOR drama) but I will fill that part in once I know more. ERR

So, the plan that is happening now (and we will stick with) is:

Rehearsal Dinner: Morocco, DP
Wedding Ceremony: Canada
Wedding Breakfast: Attic
Wedding Dinner: Sago Cay

We are thinking of cutting our AK pictures with Randy, and asking him to come to Sago Cay dinner instead. This way, we an have pictures in the GF and of the fireworks. Does anyone know how far Sago Cay is from the GF lobby? I would only want him for about an hour, so I though about meeting him in the lobby around 9:15, taking some pictures, than back to Sago Cay for fireworks?

Ohh Karen!!!!!!!!!! This is awesome!!! I love that you'll be the first escape bride to get married in canada!!! You'll have to post details ASAP! I'm sooo happy for it! Its going to be beautiful!

Aww! I don't know if I will end up being the first....but it will be beautiful, as will yours!!!!! I'll post details asap!

I'm still working on getting all my ideas together for the new venues....it takes so long to do this, and as much as I would love to spend all day on wedding stuff, unfortunately I can't.

Anyway, veil's have been something I have been thinking about for awhile! If I get one, I want a Mantilla one, but I don't know if it goes with my dress. What do you guys think? Here is a reminder of my dress, with some veils:

The Look

I decided to switch the red for gold. I really feel more comfortable with the more neutral colours, and I think it will look great in my venues! DF and I are now leaning towards grey for a suit. I think it goes towards the more “vintage” look I am trying to get, and again, I think it would look great in our venues.

Venues

Since I have changed my mind countless times about different venues, particularly with respect to the reception, I thought I would make a re-cap of the new plans. While originally we were going to have a really low key Escape (we were thinking SBP followed by Kona), we have been lucky enough to come into some extra money (well, extra $ that we worked HARD for). Because we have been through a lot of hard times in the past couple years, and because we have decided to have a real wedding, and not a courthouse one, we decided we are going to treat ourselves, and try and do everything we want (as long as we know we can pay for everything of course). So with that, here is the new plan (with pictures!!!)

Rehearsal Dinner: Epcot DP in Morocco

Ceremony Venue: CANADA!!!!! (How fitting:goodvibes)

I looked this up on Google Earth, and it looks even more stunning!!! The beautiful buildings behind it really make it unique, since on one side, there is the rustic outdoor nature look, and the otherside, the gorgeous building modeled after the Chateau Laurier. It definitely gives us a lot to work with!

So we are really excited now, and we both feel so happy with our new plan! I can’t think of a more perfect way for us to celebrate our wedding!!!:lovestruc

Sago is not far from the Lobby. The Grand Floridian Grounds are not really that big and it's no more than a few minutes walk to get anywhere, so I don't think it would be a problem at all.

I think you could definitely do a mantilla veil, you should look for something with lace that is similar to your dress. I personally like the shorter style, but I'm also on the shorter side so long veils are a little overwhelming on me. Love the new color scheme, I think the gold is really nice with the other colors.

Thanks for the info...I def want pics in the GF Lobby! That is the whole reason we are getting married in WDW (since we saw a wedding party taking pics in the GF lobby while we were there).

Thanks for the advice! I can't decide on the length....I am tall (while 5'7, so taller than average) so I am worried that the shorter ones may be too short. I love the drama of the long ones, but I am not sure if that is really what I am going for. I'll wait it out for a bit and think about it!

I think the long veil would be beautiful!! And I love those pics you posted of Canada!!

Geez I fall behind on your PJ for one week and the whole world changes! haha. I Love the new look and venues. I think the veil will look great with your dress. (btw I was in a bridal shop last week and saw your dress and thought of you!) I really like the gold that you are now bringing in, really adds something to the look. I am a big fan of the grey suit! I think the venue choices are perfect and will look great with your colors. I like that you are getting married in canada, I haven't seen pictures of wedding there but I think it will be beautiful. I'm glad everything is falling into place!

I will be sure not to fall behind again, though I doubt you will change things up again!

I'm using a mantilla veil, I love how elegant they look. I think a mantilla would look beautiful with your dress.

YAY!!! (Cause I really want the long veil, so I am glad someone likes it!!)

Ohh, you saw my dress  I miss it so much!!! DF is still not sold on the grey suit, but I think beige would not suit "canada" and we both think Black would look weird since the buildings in Canada look similar to parliament hill in Ottawa, so seeing men in black suits, next to that, would remind us all too much of politicians.

Don't you think they are great???? (well, I guess you do since you are using one). I was a bit nervous because the design will be hard to match up to my dress, but when I was looking on the Pronovias website (where my dress is from) all the models wearing Mantilla veils didn't have them "matching" their dress, so I think it will be okay!

Cake

So because of our new colours (well one new colour replacing an old one) and our new ceremony venue, we have decided to switch our cake. There was one cake, which some of you may recall, that I have been in love with since day one. However, it didn't go with our theme at all. Now that we don't really have a theme, I am going to use it. Here it is as a reminder:
cake3.jpg

(Except we will ask to have the shimmer be gold, and prob no flowers)

I think it will look really great at our ceremony (since we still need to have the cake and champagne ceremony in Epcot, since we are doing an Escape). With the "hotels" in the background, that look castle-like, I think they will compliment each other. Even if it doesn't, I don't care anymore, this is the cake I want, and this is the one we will have !:rotfl:

lol, well as the bride, as long as you want it that's all that matters! I do really like the new cake though!

Well at 5'7 you can pretty much pull off any veil length you want, can you try on the different styles with your dress and see what you like better?

Just catching up....

I Love the idea of using a mantilla veil! I really like the cathedral length ones and i think it would look lovely with your dress!

Exactly! I have stopped caring so much about how everything looks together, and just about what I really want!

I will not get my dress until about one month before the wedding....so it will probably be too late to leave the veil until than, since I will be ordering it online (mantillas in bridal stores are usually more than $300)

I LOVE that cake.

Thanks! Me too!

I hope it does!

I got my mantilla on eBay for $40. It's the exactly one from davids bridal that I liked. I wasn't crazy about the quality of the tule the lace is sewed to but the lace is high quality and my grandmother is taking the lace and sewing it to a higher quality tule we bought at a fabric store. It's a softer, more delicate looking. So in total it cost $65. The 40 plus the $25 for the new fabric. Waaaay cheaper than the ones at the bridal stores.
