For those that own at either Beach Club or Boardwalk, how difficult is it to reserve a Studio at the 11 month window (like, day 1 of 11 months out)?

I love both of these resorts equally… they remind me of my current home at the NJ shore, and I’m moving to Orlando next month, so I think it would be a great fit to feel like I’m home for a week out of the year.

I just don’t want to deal with the hassle of going to book at 11 months, only to find no studios are open. I realize that EPCOT events greatly impact availability.

I’m a solo adult with flexible dates, but I like the idea of staying around late May - early July.

Is there an ideal use year/travel dates to ensure studio availability?

Thanks, all!

Pool/Garden views at BWV are almost always available after the 11-month window has been open, even during busy periods. Standard and Boardwalk views book up quickly and are even walked during busy times.

BCV studios are very popular due to SAB and the proximity to Epcot. People own there just so that they can book there. During F&W, Christmas and race weekends they book up at 11 months or shortly thereafter with the first week of December often being walked.

Although anything can change, late May - early June is not what I would call a peak DVC period. But if you are torn between owning BWV and BCV, you have a better chance of using BCV points for a BWV P/G studio than you have of using your BWV points to book a BCV studio at 7 months.

BCV studios are typically available right at 11-months out, at least for a significant part of the day that is 11-months out, and usually well beyond that, although there has been some risk they could fill right when the 11-month window opens at 8 a.m. eastern for reserving days during first two weeks of December and time around NYE.

BWV standard view studios have a significant risk of filling within moments after 8 a.m. at 11-months out throughout the year. Boardwalk view studios have that same risk for reservations during the DVC extra-high demand season from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan, but are usually open at least long enough to easily make a reservation right at 11-months out during the rest of the year. BWV pool/garden view studios have some risk of disappearing very quickly right at 8 a.m. at 11-months out for time during first two weeks of Dec and around NYE, but otherwise are usually easily available right at 11-months out. Until 2016, pool/garden studios were even readily available at 7-months out for time from mid-Jan to mid-Sep. However, since then, they have been disappearing before 7-months out 60% or more of the time during that mid-Jan to mid-Sep period. 2016 is when the BWV studios had the Murphy bed that pulls out of a cabinet added, thus allowing maximum occupancy to be 5 rather than the previous 4.

I agree with the previous posters. I own at BWV. Late May to early July didn’t seem terrible for booking right at 11 months, especially if you don’t mind paying the points for pool/garden view. I usually have trouble getting standard view or Boardwalk view (same points as p/g) at the 11 month mark, but admittedly I’m also trying to book for December.
The point requirements for standard view studio are pretty amazing and it was even tough to book them in January at 11 month out. But usually the walkers will walk right past my Jan dates if I’m patient.

Edited to add that the removal of the clown is unfortunate. Seems more people want to stay at BWV now without Pennywise.

If like a challenge and option for cheaper point rooms and views, go with BWV. Their top point studios are comparable to BCV. I own at BCV. With the single booking category it has been very easy at 11 months to book.

I've owned BWV since 2009 and really only use it for studios. Pool/Garden shouldn't be an issue...especially your dates. Early in my ownership I had great success getting standard view at 8am, but recently had to follow walkers. I tend to go in early September so I have been successful picking up the walkers scraps....as it feels like most walkers are looking for October thru race week in Jan. It might take more work but I'd be surprised if you didn't have decent success getting standard view some of the time.

BCV I can't speak for as I am not an owner, but I've actually had decent success getting in there at 7 months over the years. I'd be surprised if you had much issue if booking right at 11 months...but BCV owners might disagree.

The nice thing about these older resorts is the average owner, I would guess, has more points than an average DVC owner. This is due to lower cost at sale as well as higher minimum buy in. This leads to less demand for studios compared to places like CCV or VGF.

I own at BCV. and just booked for January at 11 months less several days. After I booked, I looked out of curiosity, and saw lots of availability for January. However, during the F&W festival, I wouldn't dare wait those few days!

I have been able to book studio at BCV for the past 2 Octobers with no problem around the 11 month mark. I did not book exactly at 11 months but within the first week of being able to book.

You realize that the past 2 October's were 2020 and 2021...I wouldn't expect pandemic availability to continue into the future.
