Blue wall to wall carpet - need suggestions on a color for the walls

For now, I am stuck with light blue wall to wall carpet in our bedroom. I don't really like it and want to put in new hardwood floors, but it's just not possible right now. The walls are currently white, but I would like to paint them a nice color. I usually lean toward warmer colors, but with the blue rug I just don't think that will work. I'm looking for suggestions on a color. The obvious choice seems to be some shade of blue that will complement the rug, but maybe something else will work that I just haven't considered. Any ideas?

Why not go with a cream color- a white with golden, creamy undertones? That would tone down the blue and be richer than white. Think: the color of sugar cookies baked just right. Or a perfectly baked pie crust.

I'd avoid more blue.

I think a nice buttery yellow would complement the rug nicely if you want a bright color.

If you want a more neutral tone, a darker beige would work. You could do a beachy theme with the beige walls and blue carpet.

A pale gray would probably also work, but that may be too somber for the bedroom.

I would stay away from blue because that would probably be too much of one color in the room.

What color are the doors and trim?? I think if they are dark, then go with a lighter shade. Otherwise I'd go a little darker and the white trim really pops.

Go to the Benjamin Moore site and they have a great color wheel that allows you to see so many combos that you would never think would work...

I just painted one our bedrooms a green I never would have chosen & Tuesday my painter is making our guest room a "butter" color that I love!

I'd probably do a buttery yellow, but I tend to like lighter, brighter colors in my house.

The coffee brown...a la Swedish Meatball's post...is nice too, and the brown tones seems to be very trendy lately, if your furnishings and trim aren't too dark.

I probably wouldn't do blue, since I think that would make the room "too blue", if you know what I mean.

You could consider gray too, but it would have to be a very "clear" gray with a pretty strong silver undertone...not muddy, or the room will look very blah. If you think of gray in terms of metals, you want chrome or nickel, not pewter.

I'd take a look at the Benjamin Moore website and do their "paint a room" thing, or whatever they call it. When we were redoing rooms, I found it very helpful.

Mine looks just like the picture in SM's post. Then my curtains are blue and tan. Looks really good. I'd do the walls like a dark sand color with blue accents in your accessories.

Oh sure it will. Rich "coffee house brown" works with blue quite well.

Any neutral from a cream to brown will be fine.:thumbsup2
