Blue Bell Ice Cream!

Do they make any flavors that don't have high fructose corn syrup in the ingredients? I loved their ice cream...until I saw HFCS listed in the incredients.

I have 3 pints in the freezer and they all have hfcs. If I see any that don't, I'll let you know though.

Discovered Blue Bell when I moved to Texas - absolutely YUMMY. Flavors come and go with Blue Bell, some are seasonal. One of my favorites is Candy Jar (or Candy Bar or something like that) It is caramel flavored ice cream with BIG chunks of several different kinds of candy bars in it. If you have a sweet tooth it is to die for!

LOVE blue bell! there's a blue bell plant about 1 1/2 hours from my house (may be the sylacauga, AL, plant, mentioned by a PP), so it's available in most stores in my area. the banana split is my absolute favorite. YUMMMM!!

Actually their website lists 4 'no sugar added' flavors...

Im the minority here, I really don't see the big deal in blue bell. I think publix brand ice cream is just as/if not better for 1/2 the price

We discovered Bluebell when we moved to Florida 6 months ago. We go through a 1/2 gallon every week. (sometimes two!)

Our favorites are: Homemade Vanilla & Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

mmmmmm....:dogdance:

Lucky me has Blue Bell in the freezer at a times! We deliver milk to Blue Bell in Brenham sometimes (big tanker trucks). There is a freezer in the break room with all you can eat Blue Bell treats for the drivers. I have gone with DH for that delivery a few times! I also took the kids there once for the tour. It was fun. They have a cute store there after the tour.

Anyone know what the difference between the taste of the milk and dutch chocolate is?

Best part of being stationed in Texas....Poteet Strawberry Bluebell Ice Cream!

Blue bell ice cream is very good, but it's expensive around here and I never see it go on sale. It's usually around $6.99 - $7.99 at various grocery stores and to me that's a lot for ice cream though I will splurge every once in awhile. Also I cannot get the coupon to work from the website, even though I'm signed in, but i'll keep trying on that front.

Oddly enough my favorite blue bell flavor is vanilla, it's much richer and has a fuller flavor than any other vanilla ice cream I've ever bought from the grocery store.

Brenham, TX has a 5K and 10K race each spring. The first time we did it the after race stuff was great. As much Blue Bell on a stick or in a cup that you could eat. They had just started the Great Divide bars (half chocolate with milk chocolate and half vanilla with white chocolate) and they were huge and wonderful. I think I had three of them after my 5K race. Plus a few Cookies and Cream sandwiches. I left Brenham heavier that I arrived.

I've been buying Blue Bell for the past 40+ years (except for a few years in Alabama and Montana). I think back then they only had Homemade Vanilla and Dutch Chocolate.

Which vanilla do you like? There are THREE! (Homemade, natural vanilla bean, and french vanilla!) I can't decide which to try first.

Homemade is the best and oldest flavor.

The Vanilla Moo-linneum Crunch is AMAZING!!!!! One night when it was on Kroger BOGO special DH got both the vanilla and the chocolate Moo-lineum Crunch...oddly enough the chocolate version is not near as good IMO...but we can put a 1/2 gallon of the other away in one evening...I like to add a little milk and make kind of a thick milkshake out of it...headed to Kroger in the morning, lol!

I like Homemade Vanilla with plenty of chocolate syrup best but truthfully I wouldn't turn any of it down. It's good stuff and in danger of disappearing if we have any in the freezer.

MIL was a compulsive buyer/hoarder. And she loved Blue Bell. Years ago, a hurricane hit where she and FIL lived. A bad one. As it was coming in, she called DH and started moaning about how she was going to lose all her Blue Bell because the power was out. (She had it stashed in the house and in the garage freezer.) The conversation went something like this:

DH: You mean you still have it? Why haven't you gotten rid of it already?................Well, how many do you have?................TWENTY-FOUR HALF GALLONS?!?!?!?!?!? ..............Why do you have 24 half gallons of Blue Bell?.........Well, you need to throw it out NOW. ................I don't know, put it in garbage bags out by the street and hope the wind blows it away........Do you have ANY idea what it's going to smell like when that stuff melts? You'll never get the stink out of the house. ...........Just eat what you can and throw the rest away. You can't save it...........No, You can buy MORE Blue Bell after the hurricane. ...........Are you going to throw it away? Really? Do you mean it?.........Okay. Go do it NOW.

She mourned the loss of those 24 half gallons for years. :lmao:

Would have been a great excuse for a hurricane party. Everyone gets a gallon of Blue Bell.

If you're ever in Brenham, TX, you should take the Blue Bell factory tour. It's only offered on weekdays, and is $5 for adults and $3 for kids. You get a scoop of ice cream at the end of the tour :thumbsup2. There's also a mini "waterpark" (more like a pool with a couple of slides) pretty much just across the street. It was sponsered by Blue Bell, so it's got an ice cream theme. It's got a banana split foam slide, foam popsicles to walk on, and a sundae "mushroom/umbrella" that has water cascading off of it. There's also a bigger water slide for older kids. It's only $3 for the pool. I took our kids on the tour this summer, but we didn't know about the pool across the street and didn't have our swimsuits. We had to skip it, but it's definitely on the agenda for next summer!! --Katie
