pirate:I was just about to make reservations for the upcoming trip, but I've seen a number of negative reviews lately.

Anyone been there recently? Please share your experience, good or bad.

I think its kinda iffy on good or bad. Weve been there 2 times. The 1st time the food and service was good. Last Sept service was good but the food was way too greasy and we all had the monte cristo

And can you just go for dessert?
From what has been posted here you can just go for the desserts. We have been there numerous times and never had a bad experience. Will be there again next Monday for dinner so we will see.

We were there last Thursday and everything was great! We had a ps for 11:30, and at 11:10 there were already people waiting to check in so we got in line to check in too. We were one of the first seated and got a waterfront table.

The service was excellent. Our server was very nice and offered to take a pic of us after he got our drink order. :) Our drinks were brought quickly and the bread came right after. My water glass never got to be half empty the whole time we were there. There was always someone to refill the water and coffee but not in an annoying hovering way :lmao:.

The food was wonderful! I had the gumbo and the crabcakes and dh had the jambalaya. Ds had the mac and cheese. Everything was piping hot and was delectable. Our server made sure to check in with us to see how we liked everything, and when we were done he brought ds a little birthday treat.

It was one of the best places we ate during our trip. Dh was worried because we had had Goofy's the day prior and were very disappointed with it. But lunch at the BB made up for it and then some! :) We will definitely be back to eat there based on our experience.

Hth! :)

BB is one of our faves, in the past couple of years we've eaten there probably 8 maybe 10 times. That's an estimate and it may be less but not more than that. Anyway, we've never had any problems with our server or food, the place we experience our issues is with the hostesses who check you in and ask you to wait. They always get annoyed when we ask for waterside seating, we always tell them "we'd like a waterside table and we will wait longer" in addition to checking in at least 20 min. early. They always sigh and say "I'll have to check with the dining area" and walk away shaking their heads, they come back and say "you can wait but it will be 45-60 min extra" and we always say "we will wait, Thanks" and sit down. It never fails, we are usually seated before or by our PS time. :)

And yes, you can do just dessert, but the PS people won't care or note that on your ressie so just say something when you get there to your server. But remember to tip based on the service you receive and remember that you're "just" ordering dessert so the check will be smaller than had you ordered a complete meal. :)

Thank you for all of your responses! I'm going to do it. I'm making dinner reservations and we will do a whole meal. I can't wait!

I always love this place, despite the ups and downs. One thing I DID find out is that you CAN split a meal without paying the split plate charge. You don't get two of every side dish, but you can just ask for an extra plate and offer to split stuff yourselves. It makes sense with a Monte Cristo, since it's too much for one person to eat (although, it does seem to be shrinking a bit...) and it makes eating there much more affordable.

You're paying for the experience, IMO, and I still haven't had a BAD one. :thumbsup2

I have yet to have a bad experience at BB. And the only mediocre excperience I had was influenced by people of POTC, and had nothing to do with the food or service that I received. Always excellent any time I have gone. I can't got to DLR and not eat at BB. Blasphemy! We were just there this past March and had probably the best experience I have had there, and we decided to do a split plate so we could both get sides (this time we'll just be asking for another plate, no charge, and no extra side salads). From my understanding a lot of people go just to ahve desserts. I've enver done that since I can't really eat desserts myself. At least not anything with chocolate or ice cream in it. So it's usually a part of the meal I skip.
