Blue Bayou....????

We ate dinner at BB last week. We knew it would be expensive (over $200 for 5 people) but thought it was worth it for one meal splurge at DL. I thought the food was good (not the best I've ever eaten but certainly not the worst). The dinner salad was delicious and very large. I also tasted the Gumbo and it was good but never having eaten it before, I have no idea what good Gumbo should taste like. I ordered the surf and turf and was unable to finish the entire meal--the serving size was very large.

We were a party of 9 and had excellent wait staff and good service throughout the meal. Since we had over 8 guests, the tip was automatically included and I was fine with that since the service was good.

The ambiance is the reason to eat there and we had fun eating in the restaurant and then riding POTC after dinner and looking for our table. We had a German exchange student with us and she was surprised when we told her we'd be eating dinner inside one of the rides. She really enjoyed it.

I will say that splurging on BB made us reluctant to splurge on the Celebration Backyard BBQ the next night so we skipped that. Instead, we ate at the Cheesecake factory at the GardenWalk for less than half the cost of BB (under $100 for 5 of us) and ended up with twice as much food which was just as good as the BB food. Oh, and the Cheesecake Factory service was every bit as good as the BB service.

So . . . I think BB is worth doing once but don't have high expectations for the food (I was starving by the time we ate--our reservations were for 7:20 p.m.) and I'm no food critic so I thought it was fine. The posts on these Boards also made me keep my expectations low so I wasn't disappointed in the experience. I also expected the high cost so I wasn't shocked when the bill arrived.

I LOVED the BB..but um..it was free for us LOL

We had a 75 dollar a person allowance and I'm pretty sure we got close (well not the kids, obviously).

The ribs were DELICIOUS. I only wish we'd had more time to enjoy the ambiance..we were rushed for the parade we had to be in.

After that, I'm going to make sure I put money aside for BB. I want to go and enjoy it more than we were able to.

just been lookin on the cheesecake factory website

what would u recommend ?

I ordered some kind of chicken pasta dish off the specials menu (I don't remember the name of it) and I should have split it with my daughter--neither one of us could finish half of our portions. The menu is quite extensive so good luck picking something :). There were nine of us and we all enjoyed our meal and none of us had room left for cheesecake by the end of the meal.

Hi Ken ~ we have several nearby and the food is very good! Their top dish, Chicken Madiera, is exellent! You'll get enough for a full stomach plus the food has been consistent at all the restaurants. We've also ordered and love the Crusted Chicken Romano (with pasta) and the Shepherd's Pie.

Here in TX, the prices averaged about $15-18 per dish, going a little less expensive for sandwich plates and more for dishes that have expensive cuts of meat. Not sure what CA prices would be like since they operate under a different tax structure. And not sure about Anaheim's Cheesecake Factory, but other ones I've been to do not take reservations. It's a walk up and put name on list place. Maybe CA's version is different?

]To keep this on a BB theme, I think they're comparable but BB is much more expensive like dismsn said. And more food is served at Cheesecake Factory.]

One odd thing and maybe it's local - the Cheesecake Factory doesn't serve iced tea, at least not the traditional black tea kind. IT's more the mango-black tea stuff. My stepdad was caught off-guard on this one since he's a Lipton iced tea addict!

Overall, the Cheesecake Factory is definitely recommendable! :thumbsup2

Hi, I have a quick question about restaurant discounts for Annual Passport holders. At what point, during the meal, do I let the waiter know that I have an AP and would like the 10% discount? Should I say this while ordering my meal, or when asking for the check? I'd like to know how to handle this.

You just give them your pass along with your card when you pay :)

When you get your copy of the receipt, it will be changed accordingly.

Great, thank you! I wasn't sure how to let them know that I'd like a discount on the meal. :P
