Blue bayou reservations?

Any tips or tricks to get this reservation? What time to do they drop? I’ve tried multiple times throughout the day starting at 5am CST and never can find one. Will I have any better luck calling?

What dates are you trying for? I just finished my 5 day stretch of setting an alarm for 2:55am PST for the 3am reservation drop. Today they would have dropped for January 13, tomorrow will drop for January 14, etc. I saw the Blue Bayou reservations last from anywhere between 10 minutes and 35 minutes during those days and did not have any problem securing a reservation. If you don't pick them up at the initial drop, they are hard to get. Lots of people have had luck with getting reservations from dining alert services (alerting you when there has been a cancellation). Calling is not an option at this time.

ETA more detail. I set my alarm for 2:55am PST, went into the app, made sure I was logged in, went into the "Check Dining Availability" section, pulled up the day that was scheduled to drop, plugged in my party size, picked the day I wanted...all this before the clock struck 3am. Then I had my finger positioned over the TIME I wanted (click on specific times ...NOT Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner). Once the clock struck 3am I immediately clicked on the time, the reservation availability showed up, and I clicked on the specific time I wanted -- from the 3 choices or so given. I never had any issues and always got what I wanted. Blue Bayou dropped every day that way, but I did notice that Lamplight Lounge reservations did not drop the last day of my 5 days trying, like they had the previous 4.

I just added a little more detail above. I have read that it is faster on the app than on the website. You don't happen to need a Blue Bayou reservation for Jan 11, do you?

We’re looking for any time 1/9->1/14. So yes would take one on 1/11 if it opened up!!

A couple things I noticed....watching the Blue Bayou reservations the past week, the dinner reservations were picked up first.

I also noticed that if I were, say, looking for an 11:30am reservation, sometimes none would show up in the 11:30am time slot, but if I clicked on 12:30pm, it would show an 11:30am availability. Strange. So just click on all the time slots surrounding what you want.

After I clicked on a time, and I was ready to complete my reservation (this is for ALL reservations I made) it would say there was an error and the purchase couldn't be completed. (Can't remember the exact wording.) I clicked on the "refresh arrows circle" right next to that notification and it said something along the lines of "check your email for confirmation," but the wording was worrisome, like it still might not have gone through. But every time the confirmation email came through immediately, and I did indeed get the reservation. Just wanted to throw that out there in case that happens, don't panic. Not sure why it happened every single time. I think I covered my entire experience. 😄 Let me know if you have any more questions.
 
I'm looking at that week, too. I have only ever seen them drop at 3am PST. Even if I log on at 3:04 am they are gone, or mostly gone. As of now our dinner will be at 3:40! I never could find a 5:00 reservation.

This is a great tip that can really help sometimes. I've even been lucky for same day reservations using your method of selecting random time near what I originally wanted (haven't tried specifically for BB, but other locations it worked pretty well). Even clicking on exact times, rather than just 'lunch' or 'dinner' seems to work better.

Strangely designed reservation system for Disney dining. Feels like it needs a complete makeover now that the parks are relying so much on app use.
 
After practicing all last week and getting a lunch reservation, the lessons I learned were first using the app at 3 am pst sharp and not selecting a specific time but using the “lunch” or “dinner” option. I would then get a couple time options to choose from. Good luck!
 
My advice is if you miss getting a reservation at 60-ish days out (or whenever they're released), keep looking! I just got back from a weekend visit, and was hoping for a Saturday (11/13) reservation. Just for fun, I checked for dining availability late Friday afternoon...and to my surprise, there was a BB reservation at 4:40 available! I grabbed it, though the app tried to tell me there was an error when I hit the button to confirm the reservation. The reservation was indeed completed, and we enjoyed our dinner there on Saturday.
 
If the 3am PST method isn't successful (or if you don't want to wake up at that hour so often), check week of. Check a couple of days before you want to go, the day before, etc. Just keep a tab open on your phone or computer and keep refreshing several times a day. I was able to snag my parents a last minute Blue Bayou lunch with this method in addition to multiple other dining reservations.
