blue bayou or Rainforest Cafe?

we are doing both, but if you have to choose then you must figure out many things.
are you taking kids who want to see fish and enjoy the noises and animals?
or are you adults who want ambiance and enjoy the dark and see the boats go by?

or is this for the family ? you have to ask everyone what they would like to do..

I bought a 50.00 gift card for the rainforest a month or so back so I would have the money to go to both when we go. i took the extra money we had and got the card so i did not spend the extra money LOL

this is for the family, DH and me, DS14 and DD11.

This is probably our one and only trip to DLR. but we are on a tight budget, as some expenses came up I wasn't anticipating. :headache: So, just doing the math, we probably will only be able to do one.

I have never done the BB because I'm a vegetarian and there is not a selection of vegetarian meals. However I can let you know I LOVE the Rainforest Cafe. The food and the atmosphere is awesome.

Well, honestly, I enjoy the food more at RFC but that is just personal taste. BUT, if this may be your one and only trip to DLR, then I think you should do it up right and eat at the Blue Bayou - that is exclusive to DLR (whereas RFC has locations all over) and is located inside POTC, and is a unique experience that I think is essential to try at least one time.

You could do RFC for breakfast (when it is less crowded and cheaper than dinner) and then do Blue Bayou for lunch (slightly less expensive than dinner) on another day.

can you do the rain forest and just go to blue bayou for the deserts?
here is what we are going for :)

Rainforest I just went to BB last month, not impressed. Overpriced. Rainforest is too, but I feel I get more for my $$

My personal opinion on this would be to go the the Blue Bayou.

I ate in both of the restaurants last October and enjoyed both the meals. However, blue bayou is a restaurant and experience that is unique to Disneyland, where as Rainforest Cafe is a chain restaurant that you could visit in other places.

I would go for BB. Blue Bayou is a DLR staple. I personally think the food is awesome and the ambience is amazing. I have pictures in my trip report if you want to see. You should check them out!

I have never been to the Rain Forest Cafe at the DLR but I have been to their location out here in Arizona and did not think it was worth the money they charged. In my book, BB has RC beat any day!

we do not have rainforest cafe's any where in my state, so I chose there the last time. I really like the rainforest :)

I have to admit I am leaning toward the blue bayou. I guess what we could do is hold off on rain forest cafe till our last day and if we can swing it, then we'll go.

Thanks everyone!

Have you been to a rainforest cafe before? If not I sugest you stop by, its fun and has lots of toys and souvenirs. my son has to go there to get the soft toys .

BB and RFC are our two favorites at DLR. I would say RFC is much better for younger children. BB is better for adults. For teens and tweens I think they both work. BB is more expensive so I would do RFC if it came down to money.

I love both restaurants.

Both have good food.
Both have fun ambiance.
Both are unique experiences.

There is absolutely no question which I would take my family to if I were at Disneyland with teens. Blue Bayou.

There is nowhere else in the world that you can eat INSIDE Pirates of the Caribbean. It's an easy decision in my opinion.

Enjoy whichever you choose.

P.S. My DH says I have to add, "And if they go for lunch, they can get a Monte Cristo." Yep, Blue Bayou is a favorite in this family.

I would just as soon get the Monte Cristo at CO. I would prefer to get something that is BB exclusive.

We have a RFC here in San Antonio and go quite often. It's DD's favorite celebration place. The food is always consistant and they have a much bigger menu selction.
BUt BB is a must do at DL because of it being in the POTC.

Now that being said- as you have heard you can do dessert only at BB. There are no appetizers on their menu and they are much more expensive than RFC. They don;t have a very kid friendly menu.

You could actually do both. You just have to be flexible. At Rainforest they have a great appetizer platter that has calamari, cheese sticks, hot crab dip and southwest eggrolls for $15. They have a dessert called a valacano that has about 8 brownies, 5-6 scoops of vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream for $12. Add a salad (which are big too) and you have a great fun meal. FYI a burger there is about $10 but atleast they have them!

Split (but don't tell the waiter you are splitting as they will charge you the $12 fee. Just ask for an extra plate) two monte cristos as they are also awesome! I know these are still a bit higher than the average CS prices. But it may help get you into both!

We might have to choose between one of these restaurants. Which would you do?

thanks!

We used to like the food at the Blue Bayou years ago,,,then they changed the head chef and they took off our favorite things on the menu and the food is bad now...We now go to Rainforest everytime we go to the anaheim area,,,we love the king crab legs, they r the best, so moist and flavorful...

My vote would be BB in a second.... The food has changed but its still pretty good its very pricey though... you cant beat the atmosphere.

I agree with those who've said do both! We often go to BB for dessert and RFC for dinner because we love both. Ballarinamom had some great advice about how to do both restaurants.
