Novice here trying to decide on the varying restaurants we will visit during our visit this November. Background info - two adults and our two children - our daughter is 6 and our son will be close to 3 at the time of the trip. Trying to decide between the above two restaurants keeping in mind the ages of our children.

Looking for any/all advice.

Thanks in advance - Anjelica

Prices are cheaper at Cafe Orleans but the ambience is cooler at Blue Bayou. Bith are a "finer" dining restaurant. Check out the menu on allears.net to see if that may help

Blue buyou is where you should go our daughter loved it at 2 and loves it at 4 she loves waving to the people on the ride.

We are trying to decide between the two also we have a 5 year old and 2 year old.

Another Question( with multiple parts) Is if its necessary to make as Reservation in advance for Cafe Orleans? We are really wanting to try the Monte Cristo and Pommes Frites. Do they have a quick service window to get those items, or do you have to sitdown, and if you do, is Priority Seating a must?

The answer to that might play into which of the 2 restaurants we choose...

I would so always make a PS if you can. You will never know how busy the restaurant you want to eat at will be that day. With PS you are taken to your seat before any one else is. Hence shortening your wait time. :thumbsup2

The monte cristo and pommes frites are to die for! :worship:

No, they do not have a quick service menu... though that would be awesome. I would love a monte cristo on the go. They could put it on a stick. :woohoo:

I hope that helped. ;)

I will be calling tomorrow first thing in the morning to make a PS reservation. :thumbsup2

We have never had anything, but quick service food on previous visits. Up until now the Meat Skewers from Bengals BBQ would be at the top of my list of best food I have had in the parks.

After joining the boards and reading/seeing all of the posts and pictures of the various other offerings I decided we need to make it a bigger part of our plans. If I went home this trip without trying a Monte Cristo and Pommes Frites, I think I would be disappointed. I don't care what anyone chooses the rest of the trip (except for maybe a BBQ Skewer for lunch on one of the days...)

Forgot to mention earlier. We did setup a PS reservation for Cafe Orleans at the beginning of their lunch hours 11:30am. We can't wait for the Pommes Frites and Monte Cristos. This will be our first meal in the parks of our trip after we take advantage of our Magic Morning entrance that morning.

Just hoping that 3:30 minutes before lunch is enough time to take advantage of the opportunities to get stuff accomplished in Fantasyland and Toontown before heading across the park.

I would say three and half hours should be plenty. If you hit fantasyland first and make a mad dash for Peter Pan first. After Peter I would do Dumbo, then Alice. After Alice I reccomend the matterhorn. Once you get off Matterhorn, feel free to go wherever you want to next.

I know you will love Cafe Orleans

We prefer Cafe Orleans. We like the food better, we like the prices better and we aren't as stressed out that our rowdy kids might be ruining someone else's "special & very expensive" meal @ BB. Plus, they get plenty of atmosphere riding Pirates. We feel like we can afford to get the Mickey Beigneits at Cafe Orleans too -- they come with two really good dipping sauces -- one is a berry & the other is a vanilla sauce. The last time younger DS decided that the berry sauce shouldn't be wasted, so the decided to "shoot" the rest of the berry sauce -- DH was horrified -- 5 year old shooting the berry sauce -- NICE!!! :rotfl: We always make a reservation.

Price-wise, go with Café Orleans. I usually start with a cup of New Orleans Gumbo. It has a bit of a kick, but it's divine! The Monte Cristo sandwich is delicious with Pommes Frites, but I discovered the Seafood Herb Crepe is to die for. It also comes with sauteed asparagus and new potatoes.

If you are on a budget, Cafe Orleans. The food is very good and has some menu items identical to Blue Bayou at a lower price.

I'm going to say that from experience, the Blue Bayou experience is lost on very young children. Some of them are scared by the darkness of the restaurant and its can be hazardous to the servers and other guests if the kids have a hard time sitting still and run around the restaurant.

Also, if your child is frightened of the Pirates ride, they will probably be scared to death to eat next to it (had this happen once to a relative's child).

i love both places honestly.

we took our dd at age 3 to cafe orleans and it was nice, had the monte cristo and pommes fritas - YUM
then last X-mas we went to BB and had our dd age 4 and my 2 month old and it was also very nice and so cool to be inside the ride. :)
