I'm starting to make dining plans for our upcoming trip and I have a gumbo question......

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVVVEE the gumbo at BB, but DF doesn't really want to eat there again (he thinks its too expensive......:confused3). I've never been to CO but I've heard their menu is similar to BB, so I want to know if their gumbo is the same as what they serve at BB.

TIA!

I believe the food items shared on the two menus (Monte Cristo, gumbo...) are the same.

If I remember correctly.....and I've had lots of gumbo at both.....they are the same. The gumbo at Cafe Orleans is VERY good. That is what I always order there.

Of course the BEST gumbo is at the Jazz Kitchen, but if you're in DL and want a great bowl of gumbo without the added cost of the BB, go to Cafe Orleans. :thumbsup2

My least favorite gumbo in the area is at The House of Blues. It's not bad, but it has too much of a tomatoey base rather than a rich rue base found in the gumbo at JK, BB, and CO.

Did both of these last August and I swear they are the same.

Ditto what's been said before: I'm 99.9% sure that they're both exactly the same. Except at CO, you can also order a whole bowl of gumbo, rather than just a cup. SO YUMMY!

I haven't had the gumbo at either place but our waiter at CO confirmed that BB and CO share a kitchen so like PPs said, items that are on both menus are the same.

Make sure you check before you make plans you don't mind changing... my 60 days out was over the weekend, and when I asked for BB for my trip in March, they told me it was closing for construction on 3/21 and had no reopen date yet. Since I haven't seen that ANYWHERE online, I was surprised, but when I called back and asked a new person, same deal.

We are not going until June, so I have a lot more days before I can make any PSs. But thats such a bummer that BB is going to be closed.

Thank you everyone for your answers. I'm excited that I can get that delcious gumbo without paying crazy prices. (And that I can get it in a bigger size than those little cups:cool1:)

Wow really!?!?! I will be there 3/29. I'll call and ask when I'm 60 out, but if so, that will make my CO vs. BB debate easy to resolve!
