We ate at both on our trip at the end of August. We did a late lunch at Blue Bayou, and character dinner at Ariel's Grotto (formerly Avalon Cove.) I was very happy with both. Blue Bayou's environment is like no other and the food was good (my very first Monte Cristo!), plus, nothing beats a mint julep! Ariel's Grotto has a set menu...you get a choice of soup or salad, entree and yummy desserts (and a plate of cotton candy!) for one set price. I was happy with the food there, too. There were a few things I wanted to try, so I told the waitress to surprise me with her choice of entree. I ended up with the fish and chips and my friend had the special pasta dish. The character interaction is GREAT...perfect for 2 fun loving adults! I am a picky eater....I love GOOD food (not a big junk or fast food kinda person), but both restaurants offered good selections.
Overall in DCA, I was VERY happy with the food. There is lots of variety, all at somewhat reasonable prices (for Disney, IMHO.) Bonus in DCA...if you ever want a break to enjoy a glass of wine or a margarita, you have that choice (however, not at reasonable prices, IMHO

)
Another suggestion....I don't know the name of it, but it is the family restaurant on the lower level of the mission house by the wine tasting area....Great panini style sandwiches and pasta dishes and very reasonalble prices. The patio area offers great views.
