BLT wear and tear

We stayed at Bay Lake Tower a few weeks ago and I was surprised on worn the table and chairs in the kitchen and living area were. The chair material seemed worn out on the corners of all pieces while the wooden chairs and tables had numerous chips.

Anyone else notice this or was ours the only unit abused?

If this is the same in all units, seems like maintenance fees will eventually take a hit.

Last time I was visiting the wear and tear thread went for many many pages.

Decorating doors... GO!

What was your room number? I'm curious if it's a small group of rooms with the same problems or if the quality of the furniture is that bad that all rooms show above average wear and tear. It could just be the style of furniture. Modern clean lines and tight fitted fabrics show wear faster.

Yes, there have been many threads on this subject. IMO the furniture was chosen for asthetics and not enough thought was given to the durability of laminate in heavy use situation. The cloth on the sofa also seems to often have problems.

I have stayed at BLT twice. The studio I was in showed all of these problems - chips in the table, marks on the tv/dresser etc. The 2BR unit we stayed in was in better condition.

BLT looks very IKEA to me. Perhaps that's where they got some the furnishings?

8020 over XMAS was next to perfect, much nicer than than the other DVC resorts but it should since it was newer. The new tile, appliances, fixtures, doors-very nice.

Post pics if you have them and be sure to report as well.

We were just in 7902, I notice a little in the main LR/DR/Kit, but the bedrooms were in very nice shape, as well as the baths.

I wonder how well non-members take care of the villas. I know I was on top of my boys to take care of their surroundings.:)

Jade1 thanks for posting the pics. We will be there in mid June and always like to read everything about BLT (good and bad) especially now that the trip is getting closer. Can't wait to check it out ourselves. :)

DVC is very aware of the problems, now they just have to decide who is going to pay to fix it.

And I will state this again, there is no evidence that nonmembers are any more abusive of the villas than members. Many members have the attitude I paid for it, I can do whatever I want.

Proof, read the threads about members rearranging the furniture to suit their personal needs.

Agreed...renters are renters, whether its cash or DVC points....we are all transient.

PS - My two recent BLT stays (in the last 6 months) both of the rooms had a lot of chipped/damaged furniture.

We all know that Disney is changing the way that they do business, the changes to increase profit during that last couple of years have been obvious in the parks, resorts, and DVC. It only makes sense that they would look to cut costs when building new DVC resorts.

BLT has many problems due to the cost cutting. Hopefully Disney will learn from their mistakes and take less profit to improve quality for future projects. I was reading another thread and if I remember correctly, the expected profit from BLT is going to be almost 750 million dollars.
