BLT & Treeshouse DVC Announced

I really liked the decor in the video- but now that I see groverdog's pic I LOVE:lovestruc the decor. I am a big fan of 50's style modern furniture and this is PERFECT.
Groverdog- where did you get that pic?

:rotfl: Looks like I'm the only one who loves the look, eh? Yay, easier to get a ressie at 7 motnhs! ;)

Can't take credit for the picture - Josh125 posted it and I'm thrilled he did!
I love the decor but I also love the Swan & Dolphin so go figure :)

For us Families of 5... It seems BLT will not be following AKV plan allowing 5 in the one bedrooms....
:guilty:

I just checked the interactive planner - during September, how can you pay 48 points for Sun-Thur (5 nights) in a std. studio? Never mind - I punched in the wrong data. It's 60 pts.

If the planner is right, the points per night (at least for September) don't really look too awful. Having a point chart would be better.

Another question - what constitutes a "standard" view?

I'm not sure if you are agreeing or disagreeing.:lmao:

I apologize to those that like them. I was just kind of shocked. My tastes run more to WLV and BCV. Ah well, different strokes. I guess Disney has something for everyone.

:lmao: I was being diplomatic

We like AKV, SSR type decor. But that's just us. Others may hate what we like. Fortunately, DVC has so many different themes that no one should be left out.

I don't like the decor much, either. It doesn't seem special, just sort of "trying to look upscale" boring. However, I'm in the really love being on the monorail and being able to see fireworks category... Ideally, we'd have enough points to stay in a MK view one bedroom for 5 weeknights every couple of years. We'll definitely try to use the 7 month booking window, but I'm not counting on it.

We bought AKV a couple of months ago and we're in the middle of a BWV resale purchase, so our DVC budget is used up for a little while. We won't be in the first buyers category, but we'll probably end up with something eventually. Unless they announce Poly or GF Villas first :-)

I am not impressed with the BLT. The decor is definitely not my cup of tea. I was hoping for something like the remodeled units at the rest of CR. Second, the points are too high for us. I plugged in the first SUnday in December 2009, which is the same as January when we go. Here is what I got: 1 BR (S, L, MK) 24, 27, 32 points; 2 BR (S, L, MK) 32, 36, 44 points. The standard view is OK, but if I am staying there, I would want MK view, or at least lake view, and that would be too many points for us. We have 150 points and usually stay 5 days in January @ 30 points/nt in a 2 BR. I guess if I liked the rooms better I would make the sacrifice and buy some extra points. However, if that is how they will look, I do not see us staying there.

Oh good, I'm not alone!

My guess is rooms inside the circle that are angled in so they can see the pool and other side of the building, but not the lake. :confused3

I'm not wild about the decor, either. (Actually, I agree with the "fugly" comment.) I also thought maybe they'd go with the W type re-do they did at the CR. That, I could go with.

We'll stick with our BWV for now, and maybe pick up a couple of BLT nights during a stay at 7 mo. if any are available - our nieces are still at the MK age and a couple of monorail nights would be handy - but not for the decor!

Would any of you current DVC members be willing to tell me how many points per night would be needed for BLT during January (Adventure), in a 1bdrm, standard view, Sun-Thu and Fri-Sat? Please? :lovestruc I'm just trying to get an idea of how many minimum points we'd need to buy and about how much $$ we'll be looking at. Thanks!!

For Sun-Thurs: 1 BR (S, L, MK) 24, 27, 32 points; 2 BR (S, L, MK) 32, 36, 44 points.

For Fri-Sat: 1 BR (s, L, MK) 41, 44, 55 points.

Ok, this could be a stupid comment, but I have to wonder

Looking at the points shown for the BLT, the MK views are so much more per room then at other DVC resorts, right? And the reason they are so much more is because the SUN-THUr points are significantly higher then at other resorts, but the weekend rates are pretty much similiar between BLT MK view and say the 'beachclub DVc,,, right?

Ok, so if the above analysis is correct -- do you think BLT is going to get slammed at the 7 month mark for FRI & Sat nights,, meaning non owners will figure, hey, it costs the same as our resort for the weekend, lets move there for the FRI & Sat nights, we get a taste of it, and it will be more likely openings on the higher rates nights??? (But in the end, costs us non-owners the same number of points if we just stayed at our DVC's?

Or am I totally off base with this thinking....(be gentle, I am a DVC newbie :scared: )

If you are not a current owner then you will be required to purchase a minimum of 160 pts.

It looks to me that points per night for MK views are around 20-30% HIGHER than SSR. Even Standard rooms M-Th are 20% higher.

That's a lot of extra points needed, and extra MF over the next 50 years....

Yup, I'd give it a try - but for a standard view. If I figured right (I seem to be having a problem doing that today), a weekend night in a 1 bd (41 pts?) is the same as a standard view at BWV during Sept and January. I'll stick with my nice 16 pts. a night Sun-Thur for a 1 bd SV at BWV.

It depends on what you want. Contemporary is a much higher valued resort because of location. The existing rooms cost more than a studio in SSR... so it makes sense to me it costs more.
