BLT studios - clausterphobic?

I just went on the virtual tour on dw.com, and does anyone else think the BLT studio seems tiny? Atleast the sleeping/living room portion looks like there is barely room for 2 people to walk around in. For those that have actually been in the sample rooms what do you think? Maybe it just the way they chose to allocate the total square footage between the bathroom/kitchenette/living space that is weird.

Additionally, I dont like the motif at all (kind of that upscale, trendy, sterile feeling).

I will stick with BWV and VWL for now .. you certainly cant beat the location though !

I just took the actual tour of the BLT rooms, and they are INCREDIBLY roomy! The virtual tour is absolutely NOTHING like the real thing. They are amazing in every way (except the kitchen bar stools which have still not grown on me :lmao: ). The layout is wonderful, and perfect!

I thought so as well very spacious

You really can't get an idea of size or spaciousness from those virtual tours. I also did a tour of the BLT models, in September. I took a couple of local friends along, I will admit, because I thought we'd all get a good laugh out of it. We saw the virtual tour first, and HATED it. Laughed at it. Thought it was the ugliest decor ever.

Boy, were we surprised. It wasn't tacky or ugly at all, and if I hadn't just had my investments eaten up by Wall Street, I would have bought an add-on on the spot. To my eye, they're the most luxurious of all the DVC villas, by far. And I don't know the square footage off the top of my head, but they seemed much roomier than BWV or VWL, even the studios. Very spacious. Not claustrophobic in ANY way.

If you're considering a purchase at BLT but are put off by the virtual tour, I'd strongly advise going to see the models before you make your decision.

I totally agree! I bought 200 points at BLT before I saw the models in person. After I saw the models, I knew I wanted more BLT points. I just added on 100 more.

I agree that BLT is very luxurious. When I take family and friends to WDW and want to impress them with DVC, I'll take them to either BLT or Kidani Village at AKV.

I took the tour last month and agree that they are bigger in person. The only comment about the studio is everyone in the group thought it was strange that the bathroom sink and the kitchenette are so close. So you could be preparing food right next to someone shaving.

We did the tour last week and hated this feature. We commented to the DVC CMs too. Our biggest problem with the tour is that we toured both BLT and AKV. THat was not good. I wanted to love the BLT, but I'm only lukewarm. I did love the size of the AKV. I was truly impressed with the AKV and the size of the units. Touring AKV then BLT will make you notice the size difference. I did find the smaller size of the BLT was very noticable to us. I'm still on the fence about a BLT purchase.

Wow, thanks for that information! We have toured AKV and loved the size, and I was assuming that BLT was similar in size, since it has similar capacity (important to us, as we are 5). But now I am going to wait until we see it to buy in. On our first trip home to BCV, my DH was very disappointed in the size -- he was used to OKW! I do NOT want that to happen again!

That is a good idea to wait for the tour. I had not even thought of buying AKV, but I loved the model room. I love the shower area in the master bath. It was just so much more roomier. I have waited a long time for the BLT announcement and now I'm having second thoughts. I want it for the location. I did like the kitchen at BLT alot, though not the cheap looking cabinets. I also loved the kitchen seating bench area in the BLT. It was really hard because there were so many pros and cons for each. If and when I ever buy into BLT, it will be for the location.

Our first 2 bedroom stay was in OKW and we did a split stay to BCV, you can imagine our shock too, to go from OKW to BCV. Each resorts offers different things, which makes us not really have a favorite, so we keep bouncing from one to another.

I agree the studio with the bathroom sink being in the same room as the micro and bar sink?
Shaving, brushing teeth, etc. in same room as storing and preparing food???
Doesn't sound so inviting.
But I still purchased do to location.

I agree!! We thought we would add on at BLT until we saw the studio. I have long hair and the idea of me brushing out my hair at the sink and the food area is RIGHT behind me is gross. I don't want to end up with hair on my toast in the morning. :)

We mentioned the "design flaw" at the open house. Sorry, that is what DH referred to it as - a design flaw. He is an architect so I will give him the benefit of the doubt. :)

We ended up adding additional points at BWV instead. :yay:

as was pointed out to me -

the other studios (except OKW) have the same design

they are just further apart. the sinks are not in the bathroom - but in the hall - directly behind the kitchennett. same design only alot closer.

the living area is definitely smaller - but they made up for it - by giving you a bigger balcony. the balcony is the same width as the living area.

I think that's a stretch that they pointed out how the others have the same layout. I also took the tour and commented on the studio sink layout.

I really liked the 1 bed at BLT but they need to flip that studio sink around into the bathroom. That really is a little too close to food preparation. My husband shaves and what about blow drying hair?

I do think the BLT studios were very small and would not put my family of 4 in 1 for more than 1 night (a night when MK was open til 3am) but I left very impressed with the 1 bedroom. The 1 bed makes me want to buy.

Have you seen the studio in person? We stay in studios most of the time to include all of them, except OKW. The bath sink and kitchenette are about 6+ feet apart, where the BLT is about 2 feet apart. The idea of our butts bumping when I'm at the sink and hubby is making coffee is not as exciting as it may sound. We are not pooh size, but tried it out and just couldn't believe someone came up with this design. The CM did ask us and we said there were things we liked and did not like. They were expecting the sink issue and told us the design is not set in stone, though I doubt it since the pumbing is already there. While this is a real negative for us, we are still on the fence because if we buy it will be the location that will convince us.

The BLT studio is the smallest studio per square foot. I didn't like the layout of the kitchenette and vanity. It seemed very strange. The CM there also agreed and said they were getting alot of complaints about it.

The balcony appeared very large but overall the room was a bit clausterphobic if you ask me. The room was very attractive though.

yes definitely saw them. first week!

and also commented on the sinks being to close to each other.

with people my size - you couldn't even get two of us in the same area - it is that close.

that say - really appreciate the extra counter space in the bathroom part - hoping they can kept that part.

oh my guide did say they might add the stepping stool for the little ones to this resort.
