We have stayed in standard studios 3 times now. Every time we have there have been no more than 2 open for changeover on the day we arrive so I don't know that requests make much of any difference. We are in room 7237 and on the second floor overlooking the shuffleboard courts on the backside. It is fine although we can here the pool music even with the door closed- but not too loud- just lightly noticable. We have also had the room directly below us. Since DH takes a nap while I go to the pool I found it very convient to walk out the patio and head to the pool but if you don't have anyone staying in your room you can't lock it, although one adult could take the kids that way and then the other could walk around.
We have also had a room in the middle of the front on the building- a parking lot view with the MK in the background. Beautiful for watching the monorail and Bay Lake if you ignore the lot. If you want the possibility of seeing MK than ask for an even room. If you would rather be on the lakeside those rooms are odd.
As I said I have never checked in here when either TPV or Standard when there have been more than 2 studios in that category opening up (according to check in CMs) so requests really don't make much of a difference from what I can see. I do know that our pleasant attitude gave us the even room we have had in standard as our check in employee looked at the rooms available and choose what she said was the best view available.
