We are staying in a dedicated two bedroom in Nov. Do I have to bring things like dish soap, dishwasher pods, napkins, etc? is there anything I should bring that isn't obvious? Many thanks!

Hi. They provide dish soap and some dishwasher soap (one or two packs between days where that stuff is refreshed) - but pack some pods if you think you will be running a load each day. I usually bring more than i need (one for each day) with a family of four - but I am glad to have them. You will need napkins as well.

Laundry soap too. They give one or two single wash boxes. We use more than that.

You should have a few packets of powder dishwashing detergent in the kitchen cabinet or drawer. Those will be replaced each service day. You'll also have toilet paper, paper towels and liquid dishwashing detergent. If you need more of these, just call Housekeeping. Extra trash bags will be in the bottom of the trash can. They will also provide a kitchen sponge.

Each service day, they will leave a single use box of laundry detergent, but no fabric softener. If you plan to wash more than one load or need fabric softener, bring some from home or pick some up when you arrive.

If you are staying on a DVC reservation, you'll get these items replaced every four days. If you booked a cash stay through Disney Reservation Center, you get a daily full cleaning and these will be replaced each day.

If you need salt, sugar, pepper, bring some from home. If you like your coffee, you will get a single pouch of filtered coffee each service day that includes a few packets of sugar and creamer. So bring flat bottom coffee filters (Mr Coffee style) for 10-12 cup coffee makers and the coffee of your choice. You might also want to bring zip lock bags for leftovers.

If I ever need more of anything, I just asked the housekeeper in the hallway, and there's never a problem getting a few extras.

As long as you aren't asking for more shampoo, soap, laundry detergent and other items that members are supposed to pay for if they want extra. We wind up paying for those freebies with our dues increases.

From the member website:
Pay As You Play
With Pay As You Play service, you'll be provided with the following amenities free of charge at the start of your stay. After that, you may purchase more for the following fees:

•Toiletries Package, $5.00 - 1 facial soap, 1 bath soap, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 shower gel
•Coffee Package, $3.00 - 1 package of coffee, 8 sugars, 8 creamers, 8 artificial sweeteners
•Towel Package, $6.00 - 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 4 washcloths, 1 bath mat
•Laundry Detergent (only in One-, Two-, and Three-bedroom Vacation Homes), $1.00 - 1 box

Yeah, I get it, consider my hand slapped. I own at BLT and VGC, so I'm not losing much sleep over getting an extra box of laundry detergent. I pay thousands of dollars a year in dues; an extra few bucks a year won't break me IF the dues are increased. This is a convenience thing for me, and housekeepers are happy to oblige, as they should. Cost of doing business.

However, others might not be so happy if dues increase. So for those extra few bucks you could bring extra supplies if needed and not have it effect others in their dues.

If you will be using the coffee maker and your own coffee, bring basket filters. They don't provide filters at all, just a couple of coffee packs that come in a one time use filter pack.

Things we bring or already have in our owners locker include:

1. The obvious toiletries, but for three bathrooms if all three will be used by different residents: toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, combs, hair brushes, nail clippers, nail file, band aids including blister band aids, pins to pop blisters, deodorant, mouthwash, body cream, first aid cream, sunscreen, shaving cream, blades (or electric shavers), shampoo and conditioner (the little ones provided will not be enough) and any other things used daily by any guest.

2. TP, you may need extra and what is there is somewhat on the thin/harsh side. Likewise for Kleenex.

3. Bar soap for the bathrooms unless fine with the little Mickey soaps.

4. Napkins, unless fine with paper towels.

5. Diswasher soap packets, laundry detergent and any softeners.

6. Coffee and basket type coffee filters. Sugar in packets if you need and want to avoid buying. Powder cream if you use it, otherwise buy half and half there.

7. Umbrellas and/or rain ponchos.

8. Pop tarts if you like them in morning (they are expensive at the resorts).

9. Some baggies in various sizes to store some leftovers in the fridge.

10. All the necessary wires, plugs and headphones for your smartphones, tablets and computer (rooms have wifi).

11. Drink cups with tops and straws for kids if you have kids who use them.

12. Comfortable worn in tennis shoes and sandals (it never ceases to amaze me how many bring new shoes or sandals with the result that they will be using the first aid cream, pins, and blister band aids mentioned in 1 above).

13. Favorite DVD's for kids.

14. Glasses cleaner and cloth for anyone who wears glasses.

15. Scissors (you should assume they are a necessity).

I have a wrench and shower head (with the water saver removed) in my Owner's Locker so I can swap out the dismal ones in the units and have a good shower. :cool2:

Thank you for all the great recommendations. From another thread it sounds like I should bring windex :rotfl2:

For things other than the charge items as mentioned above, they will replace them if you call or ask. Things like TP, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher packets and the like. Normally they'll also replace (or are supposed to) the charge items on the trash and towel day such as coffee or tide. They often will replace the disposable items (paper plates, etc) for a studio if asked. There is no need to take extra TP, etc unless one simply wants a specific option additionally.

It would be unethical to simply take the charge items from a cart. I have no problem people asking as long as those people have no problem with the appropriate charge showing up on their bill. At that point the onus is on Disney to capture the charge.

Food items, clothes washer soap, additional coffee and related supplies are what we normally bring. I save the tide/all from trips we don't use them and bring them as extras. We also use the 3 in 1 at times and cut them for smaller loads. Lately I've added a very small rubbermaid container and put in a couple of laundry pods for full loads.

This is an excellent list, only a few things I would add:
1. If you have small kid(s), bring a folding stool. The sinks are high and this is a huge help for them to be able to reach the sink on their own to wash hands and brush teeth. Ours is five, 44 inches tall and still needs one...
2. Water bottles, with water filters if you don't like the taste of Orlando water. We keep a Brita pitcher in the Owner's Locker, and water bottles to take to the parks. (This also cuts down on the cost of buying bottles of water all day long...)
3. To add on to the blister cream idea, anti-chafe cream or gel. This can be very helpful if you have areas of your body that get sore from lots of walking whether they are feet, legs, or more sensitive parts.

Really great lists. I usually bring a "dye" magnet to avoid colors running.

Chip clips for all those Goofy treats that don't reseal. I also bring a couple of Ziplock or Glad medium bowls with lids for leftovers. I add the Tide Pods in a bag to one of these while transporting them to WDW for extra cushioning. Also the bowls work for an adult's or teen's cereal bowl. The bowls supplied in the rooms are pretty small.
