We are headed to BLT this weekend and I received a call from WDW Reservation Center saying that they had an "inventory discrepancy" (aka OVERBOOKED) and they needed to move us to another room - at the CR! Uh.... we booked a 1 bdrm TPV and I can't imagine another room being comparable at CR.

However, "Lori" said that it was a 2 room CL TPV room. Ok, for all you CR experts out there, what was actually behind door #2??? I really, really, like BLT and love the big rooms, kitchen, washer/dryer, and 2 bathrooms. So I declined to be re-assigned.

What did we give up? :confused3

I did tell the CM that I hope someone else on her list will go for their offer since I don't want to be switched. She said she would note our reservation which I hope means we won't be moved. I already did on-line check in so I'm not sure if it matters.

Sorry for being so long winded. :)

Based on the information you mentioned you are getting to stay in a 2 Bedroom Suite on their Tower Club 14th floor, which comes with Club Level service. So in my opinion when you factor that in it sounds a lot better then what you were going to get a Bay Lake Tower, just based on the Club Level service alone and the 2 Bedroom Suite with the Theme Park View is an extra bonus. So at least you still end up with the exact same view.

I wouldn't move for that offer either.Maybe for a grand suite villa at AKL or at a Saratoga Springs grand suite.

If you do take them up on their offer ask for free laundry since you'd be giving up the washer dryer.

Thanks for the responses (I was counting on CR Resort Fan 4 Life) to help me out here! :goodvibes

Bribrittmom - good advice regarding the laundry request.

We didn't take the offer so I hope someone else will enjoy the CL perks. We've done CL before and even though it is nice, I am looking forward to all of the ADRs that we made.

Makes you wonder if the resorts are overbooked, do they try to upgrade you or downgrade you and throw something your way for compensation??

There are upgrades sometimes with overbooking. Sometimes they give you the same or a bit better booking category.

Situations like what happened to the people who booked the RR's for the first two weeks they were supposed to be open were upgraded to the CR as "compensation." They were also allowed to pay for a further upgrade to CL.

We were upgraded from CR Garden Wing Deluxe to CR Atrium Club (CL) for Marathon Weekend in January in order to "balance the inventory." When I originally booked, no AP discounts were available for any tower rooms, and I couldn't justify paying rack rate when I was getting a great discount on the Garden Wing room.

Being in the main building and having access to the lounge was very nice, but we were only there for two nights. However, this summer we're booked for 7 nights in a BLT 1BR LV and are looking forward to the extra space, full kitchen and W/D. Emmysmommy, I can understand your reluctance to give those up. (Especially since you have a 2BR TPV.)

Have a great time!

OK, so to satisfy my curiosity I did some research on a 2 BR Club level MKV suite at CR and for this weekend the rack rate is $2400 per night. Not sure if that's the same as what you were offered, emmysmommy. I am going to try to search for some pictures now...

I would've happily moved for a 2BR. Club Level would've been a great bonus and better access to things that are in Contemporary (the restaurants, the quick service, the drink bar, etc.) would've had me okay with moving. As long as it was still a great theme park view, that would be the big issue for me, but it sounds like it still would've been.

Yikes! I wasn't clear on what I was being offered but the CM assured me it was:
1. a "better room type" (totally subjective)
2. a TPV
3. 2 rooms (assuming a suite??)
4. concierge

I will still go and enjoy our BLT 1 bdrm TPV. I hope the next person on the list decided to switch rooms and have their socks knocked off of them! :goodvibes

Thanks again for all the feedback.

No way would I have moved. Having seen club level lounge offerings, I'd never choose that over having my own kitchen with whatever food *I* wanted, when I wanted it. I also wouldn't trade my whirlpool tub at BLT. Or, frankly, the laundry access!

No washer/dryer or jetted tubs...but you would've gained (if it's anything like we had), 2 bedrooms with 1 king/2 queens, kitchen, dining space, living room area, 3 tv's, 3 baths with full tub/walk in tiled showers, several balconies...and concierge...:lovestruc

...now they could've planned to surprise you with the TPV Pres Suite which has a jetted tub. :rolleyes1.

Well, that isn't quite true. The 1br villa has a separate bedroom with king bed, a kitchen, a dining space, a living room, 2 TVs, 2 full baths (1 with a whirlpool tub and a glass/tile shower with waterfall shower head), a balcony. So not quite that big a gain IMO. And frankly, after you are used to the convenience of a DVC villa, not having those amenities is a big deal! (a much bigger deal than free soda or cereal or what-have-you in the lounge)

While I have stayed in both places, I have to say the CL in the CR is more than "cereal and a free soda". They have a deluxe continental breakfast, hot appetizers in the evening with wine/beer. Desserts later with coffee. Additionally you would have access to sodas/waters and snacks all day PLUS the fantastic service of the staff. This is before you factor in the 2 room suite that I am sure is quite beautiful. I am sure you will have fun no matter where you stay, but if you do get this offer again, I would definitely take the CR. :goodvibes
