BLT or AKV ??? Please help !!!

We own both AKV and BLT. Absolutely love the theme of AKL, size of rooms, feeling like you're in another country, # of room categories to book (pay more for concierge or savannah, less for value and standard), etc. We bought BLT because MK is my favorite resort, proximity to monorail resorts, Bay Lake and monorial use. As you've read here, there are pros and cons to each. But one thing we didn't consider was what our DD wanted. Never thought to ask for either purchase, since we're the ones paying and she's loved every resort we've ever stayed at. But if unless you HAVE to stay at either of these resorts every trip, I'd buy resale because of the price savings.

of course the breakeven is different for all resorts, but I do agree that the ultimate fess will be reasonable t BLT.

I agree….AKV has two negatives that would keep me from adding on. First, maintaining animals for pleasure is expensive…..period. We visited AKV in august and saw two giraffes doing the wild thing on the savanna. Maybe Disney should wait until 10:00 pm before going coed on the savannah? I quickly steered the kids downstairs and checked out the restaurant. I’m sure the cost of raising a baby giraffe or any other animal is expensive.

The second negative is the size of the resort. I would think 7 month reservations would be easy to secure. Disney tends to cut back on transportation and other items once the resort sells out. AKL will probably have similar transportation issues, like SSR.

I think it is a personal choice, and you can't go wrong!

We just took the tour of both of these this weekend, and I would have a super hard time trying to pick.

I guess I am kind of thankful we have SSR as our "home" cause we usually never stay there! We love to see them all!

This is the first post I've ever read on the DIS that made me laugh out lou! TOO funny! :lmao:

possibly making this easier for you (then again it could make it more difficult!!:lmao:) - we bought in to DVC in July and split our 200 points between AKL and BLT (100 each!!):thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We wanted AKV for trips where we don't necessarily want to go to the parks and just want to 'chill' and we wanted BLT for the monorail (I couldn't imagine being at BLT for a non-park trip and being able to resist going to MK!!)

So we plan on banking and borrowing for alternate trips at each - perfect!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

If you decide on AKL you may want to look at resale as it is selling for as low as $82 per point. thats about a $20 per point different than Disney is selling for.

Howdy...we just came back from our trip at WDW and went to the DVC pitch to hear what was the new incentives for AKV and for BLT...news is that on October 4th, BLT is raising their point price from 112 to 120...8 dollar difference...fyI

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: That had to be DIRTY DAN and OLIVIA. My 18 year old daughter named these two giraffes when we were there the last week of July. It had to be Dirty Dan....he would not leave baby Olivia alone. She is just two. We talked to the CM out by the savanna about how he just followed her everywhere. So I guess she gave up avoiding him. :rotfl:

We just decided this week to purchase BLT. 3
Factors that helped us decide were...

1. BLT is till 2060 where as AKV is only till 2057
2. If for some reason we ever have to sell our points I would think BLT would be an easier sell than AKV.
3. If you take into account the monthly payment of each property on a 10 year loan thru disney and add the monthly maintenance fee to that amount BLT is only $2.07 more a month than AKV and your getting those 3 extra years.
