Don't know if this has been posted before.

We are at WDW right now and on DVC TV they said that members "may be able to get access to the observation lounge and to call for reservations".

Are they going to open the lounge the general public?

Guides are saying no and I would doubt it. That lounge is going to be small. It's more likely that it won't even hold all of the members that want to go up on any given evening, thus the need for reservations.

Our guide said you could only go if you were staying there at that time and if you own at BLT, but who knows. It'll most like change a million times.

I don´t think so, and I remember I have read somewhere that it must be only for "some members" not for all BLT members....

not for free.

when they start renting the place you can do it if you have several thousand just laying around.

I think the "may be available" has to do both with # of DVC members, as well as whether its closed for a private event. There will be times you can go as a member, but only a limited number of spots.

It is noted in the materials that the lounge is not part of the timeshare property, therefore Disney has control of its use. Which probably means private rentals.

I just caught the DVC TV info again.

Casey used the words, "Members staying at BLT may be able to get access to the observation lounge and to call for reservations".

So we have to be staying there and access is limited.

yes.

but if you want to see this thing - would do it as soon as possible. expecting disney to take it away and start renting it. like the one at BWV. Hoping unlike the one at BWV, if disney is not renting it to let us use it. but don't count on it.

so try for it next year.

How about optimistic. Because they open the BLT lounge to BLT guests when it isn't rented, they see they could apply the same policy to the Attic.

(yeah, I'm rolling my eyes, too).

that would be wonderful!!!!:lovestruc

who knows if the economy stays bad - they just might~~

for what it's worth I think even mentioning this lounge in the marketing materials is slimy. Much like some of the other special rooms - I bet the GP will never ever have a chance to use the room. They should only mention it if they have a time defined stated intent of allowing the GP to use the room. Meaning something like (for the first five years DVC members will be able to access the rooms on weekdays between 12 - 5 pm.). But to tout it in the membership materials and then disclaim it everywhere is lame.

The attic! That is exactly what I was thinking when I head about the lounge at BLT. I was at the BWV last week standing outside the locked attic door. I'm sure the view is fantastic.
