just back from our 10 night stay...yes I still like BLT. But our Grandvilla was disappointing...one the paint was peeling from one of the bedroom Ceilings. Right over a bed great...crack in the ceiling no attempts to repair. All locks broke on the bathrooms. Our sliding door was broke. They had to take the entire door out to fix it. Mandated we leave the room. Which I get but not exactly great when they want in at 8am. The sliding door handle nearly fell off not joking...the entertainment center in master bedroom has seen better days. I put the date in the dust over it as well. The couch in the living area was badly stained..I had a 20 minute argument that our room was not cleaned on scheduled day...then they tried to charge me for an extra clean...housekeeping in hallways is terrible. Our neighbors at the Grandvilla. Next door out dirty diapers in bags in the hallway. Housekeeping walked right by them...I finally took care of it myself after asking and asking. Dirty dishes in the hallways. Again housekeeping walked. Past. The leather on the headboard of the kind bed cracking. Looked cheap and terrible....I did love my room location and the space...my family seemed to enjoy everything. I love the location. The place is in a need of a major renovation...oh don't mention the burning smell in our room like a burnt sweeper belt...complained enough that they finally changed the filters. Talk about gross.....rant over. And yes I took photos to show member services

What did management have to say? Any attempt on their part to move you or credit you points?

But isn't the renovation at BLT only a soft goods one? Some of that won't be covered by that type of renovation. BLT just needs to fix it.

Sorry the OP had to go through all that. Apparently past guests didn't bother to report the problems or BLT maintenance is doing a really poor job.

You are right that it is a soft goods renovation but we are currently staying in one of the renovated one-bedroom rooms on the 11th floor and they have definitely touched up scratches and fixed doors etc. The room is really great. No problems at all.

You would think that housekeeping or an occasional room inspection would note the obvious issues. It almost like they don't fix problems until the guest insists that they do.

I get the feeling that each resort sets up their inspections and not all are the same. I was in VWL last Sept and a maintenance gentleman came around doing the quarterly room inspection at the villas. I said he could come in while I was there and he thoroughly went around the room testing things and then fixed whatever needed fixing. He also changed out the filter for the HVAC and said that is done regularly. VWL has consistently been our rooms in the best condition although I know others have not had the same experience. I noticed that on the ground floor room below mine there was a smell of paint so they were touching up in that room and there had been a carpet cleaning done too as they had blowers going to dry everything out.

Now, for New Years at VGC we went to the room and tried to get in. The door handle was so wiggly and the card would not work. Housekeeping was still around on the floor so we asked one who went and got the housekeeper who had cleaned the room. She expressed that she had forgotten but was going to call maintenance about the handle which was about ready to fall off! Somehow she got us into the room and maintenance showed up within 30 minutes or so and tightened up the screw. But in that case it was something housekeeping could not and did not miss - right up until they forgot to notify maintenance.

For maintenance it's generally about systems and following the system. Where the breakdown is I don't know but some resorts do seem better than others.
