BLT Contemporary DVC - What is your guide saying?

Bottom line . . . So when is the darned thing slated to be finished, and when can I stay there??!! I suppose that info will come with the press release.

"The good thing is that you guys are adding on now for $96 a point, because you never know when something could happen in the near future that could cause your points to increase in price."

I think that indicates they will start selling BLT after all the left over SSR inventory is gone. They can't have different prices for new DVC points, so my guess is they will rise the price per point from current $104 to $1xx, and if you buy AKV you get $x discount incentive, and no discount offer on BLT. Just like when they start selling AKV few years ago.
Does this make sense?

Hi: My guide said the code input by the member names will just read "future" (which you could take a couple of ways- as a new resort, or a little fun with the Contemporary's "futuristic" theme). The other codes by member names include the Grand Cal and Hawaii. She said the guides probably won't be officially notified until the day the e-mail goes out to the members. Also, no opinions on point structure or cost yet.

When I asked my guide he said "the crow flies south at midnight". I have forwarded the message to the CIA for analysis.

I got the message "The chair is against the wall." and "Bob has a long mustache."

The CIA and FBI are both working on decoding these. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :confused3

Just like one of the pp said my guide implied that BLT would cost much more. He said definately buy where you want to stay but the prices right now along with the incentives are fantastic and they may not be around much longer. We muled over that response for about a month while awaiting the announcement of BLT and finally last Monday we decided to go with AKV we have figured out our vacations the amount of points we currently have will carry us through 2013 when we will either have to take shorter vacations or buy more points we figure we'll look at BLT then. Absolutely love the location of BLT but we also love the feeling and scenery at AKV so that's what we went with.

Now if a timeshare salesman implied that prices were going up and incentives are going away so you should take advantage of the fantastic deal currently being offered... I might get a bit suspicious of their motives.

But since this was a "guide," I'm sure their info is legit and should be trusted, even though the guides have no more actual knowledge on future prices than anyone reading this forum.

Last time they raised the price per point wasn't there an announcement ahead of time? I'm not positive but I think there was...

I think this is the statement that is misleading. My assumption is that the cost per point will not be increasing. Example - if Animal Kingdom Villas is selling at $100 / point (just an example) - then in five months, the price is not going to go to $120 points. . . there's no way DVC would do that.

I think what the guides are trying to imply is that when BLT goes up for sale - that BLT will cost more per point than previous DVC sales. Therefore, no notification is required, b/c technically there is not an increase. It's just going to be a higher price point to begin with.

That's just my two cents ::yes::

DH did some date-digging. . .

July 1, 1996: BWV Opened to Guests
July 1, 2002: BCV Opened to Guests
July 2, 2007: AKV Opened to Guests

Soon to come: July - BLT official announcement (Here's hoping!) :hyper:

as to when it opens - my guess - late 2009 or early 2010.

DVC has every year increased their prices.

since they always charge the same price no matter what - although hoping with BLT they change this. AKV is nice but not worth the price that BLT is. Of course they could indeed have those discounts to buy AKV - but nothing for BLT.

hope not!

generally for the first two months or so - they offer to the members only the same price at AKV is selling for.

then they go up when they offer to the general public.

that doesn't mean the price now is what BLT will be. It is probably 2 years away - so DVC can raise it prices twice and still be in line with the past.

DVC never tells their guides the price of anything - until the annoucement is made.

so this is just buy now stuff!

the BCV was offer at the same price as VWL for the first 2 months.

I agree that this sounds right. It seemed like one of the previous posts was implying that all prices would increase. Of course, Disney can do just about anything they want!

believe me all prices will increase. that is how DVC does it. even the resale price will increase.

so if you are thinking about buying AKV - then buy it now. It won't ever be this price again (well at least not for 35 years)

That's what I'm afraid of. I don't want to buy AKV now and wish that I had waited for BLT, but I'm not sure I would be able to afford it anyway!

All new points has to have the same price per point (not including incentives)
They can't have higher price per point for BLT than for AKV or other DVC resorts, because all points are worth equal value on the reservation point chart. For example, if one BLT point cost $200, and one AKV point cost $100, if you book a room at - let's say - SSR, it doesn't matter which is your home resort it will still cost the same number of points for the same room. A member who own BTL points in theory has to pay twice as much money to stay at the exact same room than a member who own AKV points.
Now who would do that?

Except that Disney does this all the time. They charge different amounts for VB, HHI, VWL, etc.

Agree - inflation for one. But it's the law of supply and demand. They could charge more for BLT. What you would pay extra for is the option for the 11 month booking.

I realize that a "guide" is nothing more than a salesman and we definately didn't base our decision to buy now strictly on what he said. We based it on the fact that although we absolutely LOVE the location of the Contemporary it is far from our favorite resort, the last time we stayed there we had an MK view and while it was spectacular at night during the day it wasn't much more than a parking lot view. Yes we could see the Poly, GF, and MK but the parking lot sort of takes over IMO. We definately prefer the theming at AKV so we had to debate whether or not we wanted location or theming. We chose to go with theming for now and plan to add on at BLT in a few years, then we can at least stay there every 3rd year through banking, borrowing, and current points for us this is something that we're actually more excited about than having all of our points at BLT this way we'll have home resort priority at 2 great locations! I also don't think that it is much of a stretch to expect point prices to go up prior to the commencement of BLT sales.

that is because the resale market forced them too.

some members ask for more on BC than the others (BWV) when resaling it - they got their price.

this I think was a shock to DVC.

until that time a point was a point - they charged the same amount of it.

HH and VB were hard sell from day one - but until the last few years they were charging the same price.

don't think DVC likes the demand and supply. they could have definitely gotten more for BCV than they did.

anyway hope they don't up the prices on BLT... please don't.:worried:

bad news!

the sales have been put off until the middle of August.

CR is still trying to get part of it for their conventions.

the point chart was deemed to low for the upper management.
