BLT add on when BLT is your home resort question

I understand that a BLT add on will soon be 100 point minimum for those that have a home resort at another DVC resort. But what is the minimum point add on for BLT if you already have BLT as your home resort??

Thru January 14 the minimum BLT add-on is 25 points for all members. Starting on January 15 the minimum will be 100 points - also for all members. DVC has not made any suggestion that BLT owners will be treated any diffferently than any other member.

Wow that sucks. I figured that if I needed to adjust my point total after the first couple trips I would be able too. I was thinking that I could add 25 points or so as a cash purchase. I hate to think I'd have to pay 11,200 dollars to add 100 points when I really only need 20 or so.

In which case you still have until Wednesday to purchase 25 more BLT points. Where you live has no bearing on beating the January 15 deadline.

Our guide told us that we can't buy anything unless we are at wdw. Because we live in an area that isn't registered supposedly they can't send any paperwork to us. If he's wrong that would be great but I've asked him a couple of times and get the same answer.

Regardless where you live, the deadline is the same. You can purchase 25 points thru 1/14 - onsite or otherwise - after that date the minimum is 100 points.

I realize the deadline is the same for everyone I think there was confusion as to what I was trying to say. The comment that members can still do a smaller add on before jan 15 unfortunately doesn't apply to us. Even if we wanted we just aren't able to because of living in a non registered area (and not physically being at wdw before then). At least that's what I understand to be the case from our guide. So unless the minimum is reduced by the time we are back at wdw our only choice is to purchase an add on of 100 or more points.

I think those 25-50 point contracts will be very prized in a few years on the resale market when none will be available from Disney.

For 25 more points.....I'd call your guide.

Theres always banking if you dont need them every year.

That comment does apply to you too. If you can only purchase onsite, you still have until January,14 to do so. You have the same opportunity as anyone else - January 14 is the deadline for any member. The only difference is that you need to be onsite, but that does not change the deadline for ALL DVC members to add BLT points. You are not being treated differently than any other member - January 14 is the date when the 25 point minimum ends for ALL members.

I just meant that because we aren't able to go to wdw before the 15th we aren't gonna be able to do a small add on, thats all

I just did an add on and asked my guide that question - thinking in a couple years we could add a little more - and the answer was no - which I think is kind of dumb of them to do since it will push people to resale market. Once you have the 100 pt min., they should allow you to add on smaller amounts IMHO. She said they do change policies from time to time - so maybe it is something they will re-think down the road.

for a 100 points - which can be divided (or could) - it is $5 off and you get DP. Developer points which must be used at SSR (WDW) - plus in Ca and RCI

under a 100 - nothing.

Yes it does DH and I live in Oregon we had to either go to DLR or WDW to buy our 50 point add on. Just got back from a 3 night trip just to do that before the deadline. Oregon does not have the right to purchase yet.

I think what Doc was saying is that yes it does stink if you live in a state where you can't purchase from home, but if you really wanted to purchase, you could have traveled to WDW or DL to do so before the deadline. As a result, its not convenient, but you do have (or I guess I should say did have) a chance to beat the deadline like everyone else, even though its way more of a hassle for you.

I do have The same question as SamiL, and I am sure someone probably has mentioned it in another thread but is the 100 point minimum just for BLT? (And according to the rumor the minimum for GCV as well). Could you still add on 25 at AKV? I was thinking in the future I would add on at some point but if this is the new universal policy it will probably prevent that ever happening since I don't think I will ever need 100 points more. . .
