BLT -- A Sandwich or a Resort? Nov 09 TR (12/9 Lessons Learned)

:banana:Well, I have a bit of good news today ....

ok, call it GREAT news...

No, call it Super Wonderful news

What is it, you ask??

Well, I just made a phone call down to FL today ... to add on 50 AKV points!!!!

This will allow us to book a 1BR Savanna room for a week in summer every 3 years at 11 months.

I compared to what was offered on resale and buying directly from Disney made more sense for a small add-on contract. They gave us 2008 pts for free, $10/pt discount and we could put on our Disney VISA card with 6 months no interest!!

How exciting!! So glad you decided to do this. I didn't think it would be so soon but that is great! I wish I could afford to buy into DVC right now. Someday, some way...:cloud9:

Do you think that's how you'll use the points all the time?

Congrats by the way!!!!

Thanks! I didnt think it would be this soon either...we really wanted 70 - 100 points so we'd have enough to reserve ever other year ... but decided we didn't want to spend that much money. So we settled for every 3 years -- which is absolutely fine with me!

Yeah, most of the time. We have SSR pts for our main contract and we'll use that to reserve for our other vacations. This will just ensure that we get AKV. We really don't like SSR even though we bought there...

That is great news!!!!

Congrats :wizard:

Thanks!

Marsha, I just realized your title reads "November 200 Trip Report..." instead of 2009. hehe

Oh that is great! What a nice thing! Kind of makes up for the forgotten Mother's Day.

I was actually on-line booking my flights with them, after checking to see if the other airlines had a better deal. They did not, so I'm booked on SW at $74 each way...not too bad. I could have saved $150 Total if we'd fly out of BWI, but that's not worth it when we factor in time and gas and parking.

Of course if a DING comes up then I'll be mad b/c our next trip isn't until July and we won't be able to apply the credit to that trip.

I was trying to decide if I should book now or wait for a cheaper flight...dilemma, dilemma. I decided to book. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah:goodvibes this trip is feeling more real!

Next step: book Magical Express. But first I have to read about this since ME doesn't work with SW to our hotel (yet).

Good idea booking..:goodvibes

ME works with every hotel except swan and dolphin

Confused??

SW does not work yet on return flight...

But does not matter what airline you are flying down,,.,,,tag your luggage and runners grab your luggage and you take bus to your hotel:goodvibes

So let me get this straight...

They'll pick you up at the airport, drop you off on Disney property, and then leave your sorry behind there? How are you supposed to get BACK to the airport? Or do you just live at Disney World from that point on?

OK, I thought I had to pick up my own luggage at the airport and take it to the ME bus. This is great news if they will pick it up for me.

So on the return, then I have to check my own luggage?
