BLT -- A Sandwich or a Resort? Nov 09 TR (12/9 Lessons Learned)

popcorn:: subbing in to read about your plans and first stay at BLT....

so excited to see what you guys are planning and how it goes as we'll be going "home" next yr Nov.

(glad I found your PTR on the scrapboards)

I'll be back to read up as I really want to get back in my scraproom and finish a layout I started earlier today..

Happy scrappin and Disney planning :goodvibes

Welcome fellow scrapper!!

I'm getting really excited about our trip, esp now that I started the book and the November hours are out.

I've seen some wonderful pictures of BLT. I'm sure we're going to love it!

Here is our new schedule. We are not park hopping at this time but will just do 3 parks in 3 days. I'm avoiding the EMH parks, except for MK which is the only full day we are at WDW where Spectro & Wishes will be done. I'm expecting the park to be really crowded that day/night.

I can make my dining reservations next Sunday! Since I'm not going any place extra special, I don't think I'll get up at 6am to make my ressies.

Sat. Nov 14
Airport, ME, explore hotel and/or pool.
Dinner: CM (or O'hana or 1900 Park Fare)

Sun. Nov 15
Epcot
Lunch - Garden Grill (or Coral Reef)
9pm Illuminations?

Mon. Nov 16
MK
Lunch - Crystal Palace (or Liberty Tree Tavern)
7pm Spectro
8pm Wishes

Tue Nov 17
HS
Dinner - 1900 Park Fare (or O'hana)
Osborne Lights

Forgot to add Kona Cafe for a back-up as well! Every time we've eaten here (breakfast and lunch) we've enjoyed it.

I just read thru your PTR and am enjoying it...

so fun to find an upcoming BLT stay....

I first have to say that your idea of eating a BLT in front of BLT and the hot tub analogy just cracks me up :lmao:

I think I was destined to buy into BLT...as as long as I can remember BLT's have been my fav sandwich forever....I personally can't wait to make a BLT and eat it there....;)

I know you have been curious about the decor there...when we bought in this past march we did the rooms tour at SSR and saw both AKV and BLT...they are very different as you would expect...but I thought the rooms were :thumbsup2

very streamlined, crisp and cool. The colors were actually quite nice in person IMHO I really liked it! hope you will too.

I'm curious too how these SV rooms will be and what you will actually see...we have always stayed on prop mod, value and 1 deluxe w/ the SV and can't really complain too much...but it would be nice to see something other than cars...i agree. but we'll be doing a SV on our first trip home, because for now as a fam of 6 we need the 2 BR and point wise for now and have enough left over for an anniversary trip for DH & I we will be doing a SV.

so here's hoping it's ok! :goodvibes

the whole TotW lounge has me  too mainly in re to kids...be interested in seeing how this works for you.

many of your :confused3 have been worked thru but I'm wondering if you are still thinking about this stuff?

TSM w/ a baby....a baby or toddler can sit btween 2 adults on the ride as long as they can sit...8 months maybe to young...there is no buckles, but I have heard recentely that you can hold a lap baby on the ride w/out bringing the pully trigger toward you or something like that....but yes you may have to baby swap this ride. we did it w/ an 18 mo old w/ no issues, but it does jerk alot like you remember.

looking for a fun indoor play area for kids in Epcot?

try the Kodak labs part of the Imagination pav

Interacive kid show at MK...Storytime w/ Belle...I do not think they do a show by the SitS anymore.

your schedule looks good and I think you'll be ok on the buses to DHS...we have always just used the Dis transpo and have had a few glitches over the yrs, but for the most part...I can not complain.

looking forward to more popcorn::

Nah...I dont think it would cause confusion. It is not like they are right next to each other. Santa is magical and can go from land to land in seconds.:santa:

Plus he needs to changes his clothes to go with culture of other children in the world ;)

I LOVE  your interpretation on this!

Ok, take a look at this and what does it remind you of...

Any chance the Imagineers were having some fun at the BLT and made the hot tub to look like a piece of toast?

So, when you're in the hot tub on a warm day you're "bacon".

If you don't use sunscreen you'll look like a "tomato"

C'mon, "lettuce" go to this resort!

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

(I found this on another thread called BLT Beach and can't take full credit...just the bacon and lettuce ones were mine...)

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I never would have thought of it as a piece of toast until you mentioned it! I think your bacon and lettuce jokes were the perfect addition to the joke so give yourself some credit! :thumbsup2

And another one.....

if you put on too much sunscreen, you'll be the mayonnaise!

:rotfl: you are too much!

Park hours still aren't up so I'm leaving to go cropping (after I nurse Elie).

Oh, and all that frustration I had over which tickets to buy? Well, I figured it out last night -- I saved $174 by purchasing the tickets through UT. I'm still waiting to see what the new price will be for the DVC AP, so it may go down a bit. But still: :cool1:

that's fantastic!

Mousescrapper and CherBear --

Thanks for your posts! I read them but do not have time to reply now. I'm doing our final packing for our quick 4 day weekend to Hershey, PA (going to Chocolate World and Hersheypark) and to my parents house in Blandon (near Reading, PA).

I can't wait -- a roller coaster is soon in my vision!!

Hey Marshay

got any updates for us ? popcorn::

Catching Up:

Yes, I did find out that the Contempo Cafe has a Turkey BLT sandwich...I will order that and try to eat it in front of the BLT sign!:thumbsup2

I've heard that the BLT colors are much nice in person but the rooms don't photograph as well...I can't wait to find out for sure.

I've subscribed to a few threads on DIS that discuss the "standard room at BLT"...seems like some people are getting a view of MAGIC KINGDOM!! Others of the lake. Others have a pool or fountain view and some rooms are situated right over the "trash processing plant" (i.e., DUMPSTERS!!).

So I called Disney yesterday and requested a MK view...can't hurt to ask. The only difference seems to be the floor. The first 5 floors or so are considered standard view since the MK or lake views are partially blocked by trees, monorail track, etc.

The Top of the World lounge is open to kids as long as they are accompanied by parents.

Yes, I'll check out the Imagination play area -- Rachel will like that. We also watched the Epcot video and she wants to go into Innoventions and play around.

RE: Hersheypark. We had a blast but got there late in the morning (11:15am) and it was really crowded. No fastpasses for this park. We went on the Trailblazer (it's really a mild, mild coaster -- I do not count it as a roller coaster) and Rachel loved it! She went last year too.

I didn't get a chance to go on a REAL coaster since the lines were too long.

New Schedule Below!! I was able to get all the ressies I wanted...and yes I changed my plans...anyone realize what is missing??:rotfl2::rotfl:

Sat. Nov 14
Airport, ME, explore hotel and/or pool.
Dinner: 1900 Park Fare
Explore GF Gingerbread House and ride monorail back to BLT Lounge for Wishes fireworks

Sun. Nov 15
Epcot
Dinner- Garden Grill
9pm Illuminations?

Mon. Nov 16
MK
Arrive 12 noon-1pm
3pm Parade
Dinner - Liberty Tree Tavern
(Note this is a MAJOR change for me. We are going to arrive early afternoon so we can actually see the parade, which we never have...then I hoping we'll be able to stay in the park until after dinner to ride the rides during Spectro/Wishes...we'll see how this goes.

Tue Nov 17
HS
Lunch - Hollywood & Vine
Osborne Lights[/QUOTE]

So I saw the pictures you posted of your park maps. I just ordered mine too. :thumbsup2 I already have the classic ones so wanted to get the character ones and from looking at yours I'm so glad I did. They are so cute!!

Your Itinerary looks great. I'm not sure what's missing like you asked. I guess I'm dense

Glad you chose LTT. I love the family style dining there but miss the characters. And I think planning to ride rides during the parade and fireworks is a great idea! We usually do that. The best time to ride rides for sure. Especially the ones in Fantasy land.:thumbsup2

Marsha, sorry you didn’t get to ride any big coasters at Hershey, but glad you got to experience a smaller one with Rachel.

Your plans look great to me, congrats on the ressies! I agree with Carla in that experiencing stuff during the parade and fireworks is a good idea…since you’ve seen them all before. We make it a habit of riding when the parades are going on—but that will change when we have little ones to bring! Hopefully we can pull them away every now and then to have some ride time

Oh, I'm glad you saw the maps...I was just going to pull them down off photobucket but glad I didn't yet.

Well, you did figure it out -- LTT! I previously was going to go somewhere else but just couldn't force myself to do it...actually I didn't want to do all buffets so I thought having Garden Grill and LTT as family style would help us out a bit. At least we won't have to keep getting up and down for those 2 places.

The reasoning behind watching the 3pm parade but not Spectro/Wishes is that we are planning to go on our next trip in July with my sister's family and parents. There is no way in the World that we will want to sit in the hot July sun and watch the 3pm parade...so we should take advantage of that in November, when it should be lovely to watch it!

Now of course I have to convince Rachel that ... I know once she sees the night parade or fireworks she'll want to do them. I told her maybe we can do like last time and watch the fireworks while riding Dumbo. That was super cool!

So I was looking at your plans again, is the change you are referring to the last day ADR? Looks like you had Dinner planned at 1900 Park Fare and now it's lunch at Hollywood & Vine? Is that the change you are referring to? :confused3

Hey, Cheri -- I see you have a trip to Pop soon...can you send me the link to your TR? I can't see the link in your siggie and I can't believe I missed it!

Good detective work! but nope, not the change. I just posted that you had figured it out -- we added LTT...we were going to do CP...but if you remember I just have this hangup about one particular character ... and just can't do it. Nope, can't make me! :rotfl:

Actually, I found out that once again, my family wants to go to CP in July so if we go in November, then we'll have to go again in July and that's just too much pooh for me...:scared1:

Oh, and I forgot to mention...

we added the Dining Plan!!

We figured out the cost for all our food, esp since we wanted to do a TS each day and realized that we will definitely save $$$ by going on the plan. This will actually give us more (desserts, snacks and tax is included on the plan), so it was a no-brainer.

What's funny is that the kids price is actually less than what it would cost us to eat at one of the character meals. So then it's like subtracting $3-4/day from the adult price plus getting Rachel's CS and snack FREE each day.

Ooooo okay! Cool :thumbsup2 I guess I was thinking a bit too hard about it :rotfl: I hear you on CP. I love Pooh but there's only so much cutesyness I can take.

Ugh! I just don't see how that place is so popular. I hate buffets.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Dining Plan will make life MUCH easier for sure!! Glad to hear that. :thumbsup2
