Just found ou DH s doctor will need him to have his blood drawn while we are on disney property and results faxed. Does anyone have experience? Is there a clinic or do we need to go to hospital? Hope to make this quick and easy obviously. Will not have a car. Taxi.

Is it absolutely necessary that the blood draw be done *during* your vacation? How long will you be there? Is there no way to have this done right before or right after your trip?

If you absolutely have to have it done during your vacation, your DH's doctor is going to need to help you set this up. There are diagnostic labs, etc. that are not necessarily attached to a hospital, but the doc is going to need to send you to the appropriate place with the appropriate orders so that he can get the information he's going to need. This is not really something strangers on the internet can advise you about. :)

I had to do this last time I went to wdw. I found it easiest to rent a car from the car care center and drive to a quest. I had an appt set up so there was very little waiting at quest. Then I dropped the car off and took a shuttle to the park. I can try and remember which quest I went to buy it was all highway and really easy to find. An appt was key though. I jumped right to the front of the line because of it.
I would do it super early so you don't miss any park time!

DH s doctor is asking us to have blood drawn mid trip. No way around that. I certainly don't look to strangers for medical advice (!) I came to dis hoping someone could share their experience of the logistics of the blood draw, transportation, etc. I have the order-- basically a prescription ---other than that the Dr leaves it up to us to find a place, have the blood drawn ,and have results faxed back.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't think about carecare rent. Yes now I'm trying to think how to fit this little glitch into our plans around adrs and everything else but so glad everyone is able to go. When I called a clinic this morning and they said they could not do labwork they did mention quest or celebration hospital.

There is a Quest Diagnostics in Celebration. 1530 Celebration Blvd. Suite 102 Celebration FL 34747-5165.

By car or taxi go to World Drive (this is the main North-South street which feeds into MK Parking) South until it ends at Celebration Blvd. Turn Left. 1530 is either the first or second building on your left.

It is about 9 miles from the Beach Club so the taxi fare will be about $20 each way.

I would call your insurance company for guidance. They would know the labs in the area that take your insurance and go from there.

This. This is probably the easiest place to start. My dad takes medication which requires him to always get labs done while on vacation and this is what we've done every time we've gone anywhere in the country. :)

If you insurance says something silly like, "any lab is fine" then what we do is simply call the specialist department at the nearest hospital to where we're going and see who they recommend. "Hi we're travelling to your area next month with a patient that has xxxx and I need to know where the nearest lab is that can handle his yyyyy" or "where do you send your patients who need yyy done?"

We've never had either of these methods not produce a positive result.

My apologies--I just see people asking for medical advice A LOT on the internet (not necessarily here), and it worries me. I will agree with others, though, if your doctor is not going to send you directly to the lab he wants you to use (that has always been my experience with lab testing...doc chooses the lab and his office sets up the lab appointment, even for an outside lab), you should ask your insurance provider. They may not cover you at an out-of-network lab, so you'll want to check that first.
