There is a woman sending me messages on Facebook. She is not on my list of friends. Can I block her from sending me messages, even though she is not a friend, and if so, would it tell her she was blocked?

If you go into your 'Profile' and select 'Contact Information'
There is then an option in there called 'Send me a message' Click the drop down and it will allow you to chose as to who can send you messages. I have mine set to allow only friends :thumbsup2
Once you have done this she will probably get a message saying that 'Only friends can send you messages' or something like that.

Hope this helps

If you go to Account - Privacy Settings - Block List, you can block that person from seeing you on Facebook. To them, it will look as though your Facebook account doesn't even exist.

Another way to do it is to go to the person's profile. On the left of the profile, there will be a link that says "Report/Block this Person." A box will then pop up that gives you the option to either block or report the individual. The block option says this:
"If you block someone, they will not be able to find you in a Facebook search, see your profile, or interact with you through Facebook channels (such as Wall posts, Poke, etc.). Any Facebook ties you currently have with a person you block will be broken (for example, friendship connections, Relationship Status, etc.). Note that blocking someone may not prevent all communications and interactions in third-party applications, and does not extend to elsewhere on the Internet."

Under "report" they have a drop down menu for reasons why you're reporting the person. "Unwanted contact" is one of them. So if she's really bothering you, that's an option as well.

I had to do this with someone- it's excellent!! I can't even see posts he makes (but it's sorta funny, we do have mutual friends, and I'll see them respond to a comment he left but I can't see his comments) so I assume he can't see anything I do either.

I love, love, love, love it! :thumbsup2 Great option.
