Anyone else find this,, I tried to book a few days next month at Vero Beach and it shows everything booked but if you go to expedia or even the public Disney Vero resort site there are still rooms available for purchase?

Same is true for Old Key West.. anyone else dealt with this, anyway around it, anyone I can complain to?

Those are either from the 3-5% of points that DVC retains ownership of OR from an owner who traded out of the system utilizing their points on a cruise, RCI, ABD, or one of the other options. DVC/Disney need to get their money and do so by then renting out those rooms based on the points traded out. No use complaining.

There's nothing to complain about. It's room inventory that Disney owns, not ours.

Well I guess they would rather let them go unused then get my money at the restaurant and bar those days.

Legally they don't have any choice- if you want more specifics on this try looking at the DVC resource area and frequently ask questions. They can't allow you to use points for inventory that is not in points because it violates the DVC contracts.

They do sometimes allow them to be used last minute. There's a note on the reservation website to call member services for arrivals under 10 days.

They have to try to sell those rooms. For example, if a member trades for a cruise, the cruise line is reimbursed from DVC. So DVC has to pay them, if they give you the room for points, where do they get the money from?

the OP did say they were looking for "next month" so it is true that this *might* be "breakage" inventory that was turned over to CRO at 60 days out. that can be pulled back to member inventory, from what i understand.

if it was booked on points by CRO (in the case of pts owned by DVC or managed by DVC for owners who traded pts for cruises or hotels), i don't believe those rooms can be pulled back...

Within 10 days they will sometimes be able to swing a deal with the resort. Not guaranteed, the resort has to decide if they expect the room to be empty. I don't know if they take a points room on a different date to make up for it.
