You have to have your ankles crossed and your hands across your chest (they suggest holding one wrist with the other hand). When you push off you are sort of leaning backward and since there is nothing to get traction against, it would be almost impossible to get into a position to injure yourself before you are at the bottom and in to slowdown area.
Gravity. That it. Once you start to move down the ride is over just like that. But you can slide in to the side wall. this is what hapend to my brother. got a small cut on his calf. But the bigest thing to worry about is havig you top come off if you are a Lady or Girl.
I usually ride SP a couple of times when I'm at Blizzard Beach, but once when I was at Wet n Wild I rode their version of Summit Plummet which is the same but shorter probably a total of 25 times in one day,I was told I had a tomato colored back by the tenth ride or so,it started hurting but I kept going on it!!!They also have two of these vertical slides, both identical but in one which is called Bomb Bay you step into a capsule where the lifeguard pushes a button, the floor opens up and you just fall!!
For a little more explanation, it's not a vertical drop, it's at an angle just like a regular ski jump. They already have a ride with a vertical drop and Summit of Terror sounds stupid
I love all the huge roller coasters but I am scared to death of SP
I waited down the bottom while my DH rode and yes, everyone had
wedgies, and beat red backs
My hat goes off to anyone that rides this- it's scary
you aren't going strait down. There is a bit of an angle and. Plus you don't have enough velocity when starting out to propel forward. I could see it happen if you got a long running start but last time I checked, the CM's didn't let you start at the bottom and run up
I love watching the speed meter at the bottom...I saw some get in the 60MPH range. My goal this trip is to have the wife at the bottom w/ the camera as I go down and take a pic of my speed!!! I'm just looking for the right bathing suit so that she can see me when it's my turn....
As long as you don't get the wrong bathing suit and EVERYONE can see you
We just got back Memorial week and I had the same issue. This was the first trip I had a video camera and I wanted some video at TL so what I did was watch who the kids were behind in line and remember their bathing suit and when I saw them come down I would start rolling video. With digital cameras now there is no such thing as wasting a picture, tell her to snap away and then delete the strangers.
Every Mardi Gras we have been at WDW we always bring plenty of beads to hand out. Amazingly not one of the Disney Princesses was willing to get her beads the traditional Nawlins way. But I keep trying!!!
