Blizzard Beach - slide questions...

We are thinking of spending a morning or afternoon at Blizzard Beach in Sept. We have been before, but only briefly before it started storming & the park was closed. My favorite "ride" at Blizzard Beach is the Cross Country Creek - or slow-moving raft ride. ;)

My questions are about the slides - I am not a very strong swimmer & I have no desire to go on Summit Plummet or anything like that. How are the "family" raft rides? If we go on Teamboat Springs (which states 3 - 6 riders) will just the 2 of us be seated with someone we don't know?

What slides should we start off with that are maybe somewhat tamer? Maybe if we love those, we'll get brave & try some others. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks!! :teeth:

Wy wife and 8 year old daughter went on Teamboat springs with just the two of them while DS and I wnet down Slush Gusher. The only problem they had is that the raft behind them with 5 riders caught up to them. The more weight, the faster you go!

With teamboat springs it depends. I used to work there and we would allow parties of 2 if the line was not long (since it states 3-6) but if there was no one there it was not a big issue. If you are planning on going in September you should not have a problem with that :)

As for the other slides...

Summit Plummit and Slushgusher are both speed slides. Slush is not as tall or fast as Summit it is is not straight down like Summit, but it is a speed slide with dips in it.

Runoff Rapids and the downhilldouble dipper are both tube rides. (Down hill double dipper is a single rider tube ride...runoff rapids can be ridden in a single or double tube). With Runoff rapids you have the option of 3 different slides, each twisting and turning in different directions. The two end slides can ride single or double tube, the middle one is completely enclosed and pitch black for most of it and is for single tube riders only (at least it was when I worked there). Both Downhill double dipper and Runoff raids end in a pool where you would need to swin a little bit to get to the side. It is not that far of a swim, but it is kind of deep.

Snowstormers also has three slide options but it is a mat slide... it uses the same mats as the tobogganracer (the slide that is in most of the Blizzard Beach photos) where you lay on your stomach and hold the handels on the front of the mat, this one also ends in a small pool that you would need to swim to the exit.

The TobbaganRacer is the one that is seen in all the photos... it is the multi lane mat slide where you lay on your stomach on the mat and head down the dips just like the old carnival sack slide. There is no pool at the end :)

I would start with Run off rapids in the double tube, that way you can experience that together, the Tobaggan Racer is also a good one because the slide is wet, but you are on the mat so it is more just a thrill than a "water slide"

Teamboat Springs is the "tamest" of the slides and the more people the better. My DD always wants us to be in line with really BIG people - the ride is more fun that way! It's not like you have time to make a lot of small talk with strangers!

When all 9 of my family (Parents, brother's family and us) went last week we'd ride the single rider line up to the top because it was so much faster. You almost always met nice people from other places - and if they didn't speak English we'd just smile and enjoy the ride. Toward the end of the day the lines were very short so we decided to ride together - but my 7 yo niece didn't want to - she wanted to "meet new friends and find out where they live":) :earsgirl:
