My family and I are going to Disney World in August – it’s the first time we will ever be doing a Disney Waterpark – Which one do you like better – Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. My son is 14 and all three of us are not afraid of waterslides, etc. so the bigger and crazier the slides, the better. Thanks!!!!!

If you like the water slides, Blizzard Beach beats Typhoon Lagoon.

Oh perfect! The only reason I didn't want to do Blizzard Beach is because I HATE SNOW! Especially after the winter we just had! My husband said I am just crazy! :confused3 :rolleyes1 Thanks for your help!

We did these for the first time last fall.

We liked the theming at Typhoon Lagoon a little better. It wasn't that the theming at Blizzard Beach was bad. The snow theme and Xmas music out of season was actually pretty amusing. But I felt like there were more areas that felt more like a regular water park, whereas Typhoon Lagoon's lush tropical theme just worked better everywhere.

I also really liked the snorkeling activity at Typhoon Lagoon. The water for that is always freezing, but that was an extremely unique activity for a waterpark.

I also didn't like the fact that basically everything at Blizzard Beach required a long walk up a big flight of stairs or to take that Ski Lift up. I felt like more of the attraction at Typhoon Lagoon had easier entrances. But the cost of this is that the drops at Typhoon Lagoon were smaller.

So I think if you have older kids who want the big drops, Blizzard Beach is better, but I personally liked Typhoon Lagoon more.

Well all the snow is fake and on the rooftops. In fact it's not even "artificial snow", it's just painted plastic.

Me, I like BB over TL. The waterslides at TL are pretty lame, but the three roller coaster slides are fun, and the lagoon itself is ideal if you like bodysurfing. DD and I had much more fun at BB--more waterslides and they're better than TL's, plus the "river raft" slide (Teamboat Springs) is amazing.

We love TL for the surf pool, our favorite for sure. We can spend all day at the surf pool.

BB does have better slides. Summit Plummet is an awesome slide!

If you have time try both, just get there early and get a good "home" spot. We always get a shady spot for home base.

Any thoughts on which is better for young kids (6 & 3)?

I have not been with young kids, but TL surf pool is really intense. Big surfing waves, big undercurrent and pretty rough bottom. There are some sandy spots away from the big pool, suitable for younger children.

I believe each waterpark has toddler and younger children friendly areas.

For us (Family of 4, with two teenage boys), Typhoon Lagoon wins. We love both, but the wave pool at TL is unlike anything else (except real ocean waves). The slides at both are comparable to many other water park slides. But the wave pool....ffffffffwwwwwaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmpppppppppp sound right as the wave is release....exhilarating.

Get there early, grab a palapa by the wave pool, hit the slides before the park is crowded, then just relax by the wave pool and surf some waves.....dude!

All of this advice is great -- And actually, we have two fun day passes so if we don't use one of them for Disney Quest, then I was going to suggest doing both waterparks. I have to say, that I am sort of leaning towards Typhoon Lagoon because I love anything tropical and I despise anything winter related -- It just depresses me! But I am leaving it up to my son to choose - He isn't afraid of any of the slides since he has a season pass to the Wildwood New Jersey Boardwalk and he is on those slides all the time -- But I am sure they can't compare to the Disney ones. Thanks for all of the responses!

Both of my kids LOVED the zip lines over/into the water at BB as well as the "ice" floats under the net

We always do a day at both, but we like Typhoon Lagoon better. The wave pool will spoil you to any other pool at any other water park...anywhere. The water coasters are a lot of fun. The slides are smaller, but I hate body slides...they hurt my back. They have 1 big one and 3 smaller ones. I do ride the tube ones and they are OK there too. And the shark reef, which has been mentioned.

But if thrilling body slides are your thing....Blizzard Beach is probably the way you want to go. Summit Plummet is crazy big. The slush Gusher is slightly less high, but has a mogul-like quality that will give your butt some air time. The CM at the slides told my kids, Summit Plummet might be faster...but she thinks Slush Gusher is way scarier. They agreed. The lazy river here I think is a bit better and the family raft ride is pretty cool. The one at Typhoon Lagoon is short and rather lame if anyone in your party is over 5.

Where is the best place to set up camp at Blizzard Beach?

Chairs, location, etc.

Thnx
